Dunno Neutral Newbie June 24, 2003 Share June 24, 2003 Hit by a flying stone on the TPE. The crack on the windscreen stretched from the right hand edge of the windscreen towards the left for about 20cm, somewhere around the Cashcard unit area. My insurance coverage is only 3rd party, fire and theft (not comprehensive coverage) cos mine's a 8yr+ old Suzuki Swift. So no cover for the windscreen. Can a crack that large be repaired? How much would replacing it cost? ↡ Advertisement
Jimmyl Neutral Newbie June 24, 2003 Share June 24, 2003 Many people asked this question here. Do a search for "Windscreen Crack Repair", there's some contact there. However, I don't know if such a big crack can repair, just bring there and ask, no harm
Dunno Neutral Newbie June 24, 2003 Author Share June 24, 2003 I did the search already and found a couple of contacts. But just want to find out if anyone here had repaired such a big crack before. If it's a chip, I know where to get it fixed. Just in case I bring the car down then end up having to change windscreen. My car is being used more than 15 hours a day so no time to run here and there to fix things.

E36UDM Neutral Newbie June 24, 2003 Share June 24, 2003 Wah must be a quite a big stone or travelling quite fast to have a 20cm crack. My opinion is to change to be on the safe side. If yours is not tempered glass then its dangerous Wat you need is another stone

Turbobrick Neutral Newbie June 25, 2003 Share June 25, 2003 I got two large cracks on my windscreen and now held up with industrial packing tape I checked around and the rule of thumb is if the crack is larger than a $10 note, it's too large to be repaired. Cost of a windshield replacement here cost around US$
Michel Neutral Newbie June 25, 2003 Share June 25, 2003 Around $200 for a brand new windscreen? That's sounds okay. I always thought it's close to $1K.
