GT Brakes

personally i feel tat a bigger rotor also meaningless if u're on the same calipers. contact area still not as big. might as well change better pads for the effects.

but then again, does a brembo rotor of the same size(254mm) have any edge over the gt rotors?

erm, i did not mention anything about bigger rotors leh... [confused]

anyway, it's not meaningless. simple physics tells us that the greater the distance to the pivot point, the greater the torque. for example, if u have a custom-made caliper bracket that can fit a larger diameter rotor, you get greater torque working against the wheel hub when you apply brakes. that's the idea of big-brake kits.

BUT! you will screw your brake force distribution up, especially if you go the custom weld road. so that's why we use ready made kit like the one from the EP82 GT.

if you are talking about Brembo "blanks" they offer no performance benefits over Toyota originals. however, they are said to be cheaper though (when comparing original rotors for other cars).

the problem is that it is almost impossible to find the rotor for the GT brake kit, so you will have to look for the Paseo rotors which are identical to the EP82 GT, but just different part numbers.

anyway just to repeat my point. the minimum thickness for the EP82 GT brake kit is 17mm. if you rotors are below spec, you definitely need a replacement. there has been talk that if it's below this minimum thickness, THE BRAKE PADS MIGHT DISLODGE. that was the whole reason why I went out of my way to replace my rotors - they were 16-16.5mm [sweatdrop]
