Hi,

Thinking of getting a steering wheel from Miki Marketing. [nod]

Do they install steering wheel for us? Take how long to change? [crazy]

Need to do any alignment check after installing the steering wheel? [:p]

Any size to recommend me for my 1.5L Auto car.

Thanks! [thumbsup]

Guess u r toking abt Momo steering. Miki Mkt doesn't install it but will recommend a shop that does - abt $30. (can DIY quite easily actually). Changing steering doesn't affect wheel alignment. 1.5L auto car has nothing to do wif steering size but Momo usually abt 350mm diameter. Dun buy a smaller one, u will hv to put in more effort to turn the steering. [;)]

My mechanic charged me $10 to change mine, when I brought my Momo to him.

It seems simple, but even now having already done it once before, I heave, tug, pull and the damn thing takes so much effort to come out.

Maybe it's just my steering hub frown.gif....maybe some car's are easier to swop steering wheels.wink.gif

Hear from a Concorde staff that changing steering wheel will incur a higher insurance premium. Better check with your insurance co. first.

Bro..

If you have air-bag, don't change to a non-air bag ones. If touch wood and there is evidence that it has been tempered, insurance void.

Unless you change to a air-bag ones like Momo RUnner, it is ok.

BTW... till today, no insurance company actually see my steering wheel before approving my coverage.

If you have insurance problem, PM Guyver. He gets good insurance rates for many of us in MCF. [thumbsup][thumbsup]

cheers.

May not be simple is the centre hub ring is smaller then the stock ones.

MIne had to get another NUT from hardware shop to get it done properly.

It should not be easy to take out which means that the grooves of the column has no play, which is good. If it is easy to take out, it means that it has been repeatedly done such that it has worn out. Actually you need a special extracting tool to take out but the old fashion way is by banging the wheel all around with your hand to loosen the grip from the grooves.

Cheers! [sunny]

BTW, Miki is not exactly the cheapest place to buy Momo steering wheels as they are the sole distributor and most probably need to quote you the list price to protect their dealers.

Why don't you check out the model and price from Miki and look around? Might get it cheaper elsewhere and if you are lucky, get it fixed at the same time.

Should be tight, no free play at the steering wheel and the column.

Did changed the steering for my old ride and found car go straight, steering does not [:)]

Yes, I know about the extraction tool, but I don't have one.

Been looking for one for quite some time, as all the hardware shops don't have it. The store assistants aren't much help either.unsure.gif

Do you know where I can get one? smile.gif

My mechanic's very diligent. ..... one of those old time "ah seng" mechanics.

He has taught me quite a lot about my car.thumbsup.gif

He made sure he got it on straight, and even did his own indication for the "straight ahead" position on the hub.

This problem rose after I did my wheel alignment. (Drive car over a rectangle block type) Whe the mechanic adjust driver side front wheel, steering totally out. Realign back steering, best setting at few deg out. Been driving that way fro few years till scrape. [;)]

I'm glad that although my car's 12 years old soon, all the wheels are almost 0 degrees (except one that was recently affected by an accident, but being rectified as I type...it's at the workshop) thanks to a realignment after getting new tyres.

But on highways, due to the constant road slant and my wider tyres, I find it pulling to the left.

Other than that, my car runs straight. smile.gif

Just wondering... is it illegal to remove the stock one that has an airbag to one that does not ?
