When The Golf V first appeared 6 years ago...everyone (including me)dismissed the design as to "civic like"..."too japanese".."not dynamic"....and then for no reason...it became everyone (and bengs) favourite "must have hatchback"..or "wish I could have one"..like me..hahah.

when it come to design, it's very subjective.

maybe they want to project golf to be more refined and less of a bengz (in sg context).

I do agree with you that this design look a bit more tame and not as loud as the current gen.

Agree with you that looks are subjective as I find the new face fiercer than Mark V...

[:p]

you might want to add some teeth to the grill.. sure look like it's going to eat the car in front [:p]

I think you might be better off getting the new GTi in a year's time.

GTIs somehow hold their value very well when it is a current model (like the magical way OPEC can hold oil prices in a coordinated way) [:|] - but when the new GTi comes out...values will plummet for the Golf V version b/c there so many GTis on the road today.

So perhaps buying a new GTi at EOL can be a major financial loss..no matter how much discount they give you.

Hmm..from the look of the Swift and the way they drive...I always though Suzuki Swift Sport Drivers fantasized they are driving a Mini CooperS...not GTi...but hey..thats just me. [:p]

nope.. the mini are covered by the getz and kelisa..

swift is on the Golf, esp when one put those red lining on the front [:p]

Hmmm Mark V price crash at EOL? I think that is good news for many who aspire to own a GTI, albeit used. If its depreciation can be pegged to its OMV at Japanese car depreciation rates, it sure sounds like an attractive buy. It could very well be priced same as a comparable used J-hatch, because VW maintenance is higher. So used Golf needs to be priced attractively to sell, especially in this economic climate.

Need to go down showroom to get the actual prices...all the list prices of brand like BMW, Merc...are subject to overtrade or finance boosters so it could easily be more than 20K off the list px.

Hi,

I heard that GTI V50 when u buy from agent u wont get any warranty as they tuned the engine with one of the singapore tuning workshop for all GTI V50 and thus the warranty voids for all V50. Is it true? If thats true than i find that its quite stupid to buy from agent at 115k and why dun buy from PI at 98-101k new GTI and ask them to tune the engine power to 3rd stage it will cost u less than 110k for the new GTI Boosted in total and u would get at least 310 hp right? Whats more, i asked a few PIs after tunning they still keep the warranty 3yrs or 100km active and they wont void it. Just my own opinion as i find that if u would like to get a Golf u might as well let the power loose. Dun buy a tiger and restrict it to be a kitty cat, thats what i feel. [wave]

absolutely no truth in this. Full warranty by agent on the V50. i am quite interested to know which PI still give warranty after tuning is done.

VW already advertise back by full agent warranty. that is why i said the price is reasonable. if you dont mind its a out going model, i think this is really worth the money. when i was eyeing the GTi a year ago, it was like $122K.......stock!! [thumbsdown]
