DoEs the non Q2 versions have better FC that the Q2 ones. I only manage to clock abt 460km on average before the light pops up. I'm driving pattern is 70% city driving.

Don't think so. In fact the Q2 ones are suppose to be lighter. Theoritically should drink less.

My travelling pattern similar to yours. I get 8km/l on average and see light between 450km (bad) to 500km (good).

If only we can make our 159 lighter. Forged wheels and stay 17in? Go on a diet?

Can't think of anything else [grin]

I read somewhere with the 2008 model, they have shaved off 80kg mostly from the suspension and the rims.

Edited: OK, me bad. I googled to verify - it's only 45kg

"Besides the above changes, Alfa has also decided to throw in its Q2 torque splitting system which helps the car to stay extremely stable under any road and driving conditions. Additionally, almost 45 kilograms have been slashed off the car’s total weight by the use of lighter alloy wheels, aluminum suspension pieces, and aluminum mono-block brake calipers."

Forged wheels are few and far between for this car, and they cost a bomb. Larger wheels are not necessarily heavier (although most of the time they are). My 18" were <2kg each lighter than my stock 17".

We know the answer rite? If sell alfa, die of starvation. Sell BeeEm become rich. Sell alfa may become alfa widow, sell BeeEm confirm can become wife, mistress, model or actress.

Agree, my friend has a 2.5l 156 in London, and the first time he ferried me, I could not find the door handles to open the rear doors [:p]

It was such a blast to ride in, and was also one of the reasons I bought an alfa.

Ahmad has been active in a number of car forums. Particularly in www.vagsg.com You can check out his handiwork there in the event photo and video folder. Not bad, but I don't know whether he charges for his work, or he's trying to build a portfolio and reputation.

Guess you can ask him directly in AROC since he posted there.

Battery just died on me today. Parked the car to run an errand, came back after 10 min, got into the car, inserted the key, display came on, foot on brake pedal, pressed start button. Nothing happened. Thought maybe I was in gear and not in neutral. Took out the key, reinserted. Display came on, foot on brake, evrything on display went out. Tried same thing again - inserted key, display now flashing. Again foot on brake, everything went out. Time was 1715 hrs.

Got out of car. Called EA Service. They said wait 90 min cos peak hour traffic. The support car rolled up at 1910 hrs. In 10 min technician replaced old factory stock with new Hoppecke battery, started the car.

8 month old, 11,300km done.

I remember not too long ago somebody offered such free photo shoots in MCF too. Do a search for the thread. Maybe can get him in during one of our meetups.

Is the factory stock the same brand as new replacement ?

Hi

I don't get it. The battery supposed to be maintenance free ? Why the need to rev to charge the battery ? Isn't the battery the same type used in other cars ?

Pardon my ignorance...new Alfa owner :)

Maintenance free only means you don't need to check and top up the acid level.

Battery life is very much dependent on usage. If most of the usage is on long drives on the highway, the battery gets a better charge as the engine/alternator stays at a constant high rev (at least 3k rpm). Short city stop go traffic do not charge a battery enough and hence the lifespan shorter.
