Robo 2nd Gear October 7, 2008 Author Share October 7, 2008 song! i intend to go there den source for hotel. prolly settle for seri costa, but if it looks to shabby den prolly i will settle for smth better. my gf and me place a quite high emphasis on hotels.esp their toilets. normally we're willing to pay abit more to enjoy the comfort. so go there den anyhow whack, bring a map along den find our way around. so far, so many times i travel around also no prob. just that sometims will lose our way. but i do have a mentality, as long as my car still have petrol den no prob liao. dunno the road just go slow. go wrong nvm take it as learn new route, if not ask people. jus wanna know where to go. so far i only tried drive all the way to genting. that wasnt that difficult cuz i have my dad beside, and we switch drivers every now and den. but melaka is my virgin trip alone up north. not to mention all the petrol trips. which is quite straight forward. ↡ Advertisement

Hermit 1st Gear October 8, 2008 Share October 8, 2008 hows holiday inn in terms of security for the car Did some studies on car-jacking/ theft in Melaka with a close fren who has a 'rich' heritage there.. found that Melaka is a sleepy, old town with little/ no such worries.. i put up @ Renaissance, but was curious about the new Holiday Inn so drove to the coast and took a peek. Below are my observations, - Must agree that most cars are Sg owned. - Did not see any security - No barrier to parking in the open lot- where i parked (surface level to lobby, absence of levelled parking) - cars drove via an open space beside the hotel to enter the basement carpark (level to the sea) - from my observation at the open lot, not sure if there is any barrier, but i doubt it. Any bro who has been there, pls advise.

Robo 2nd Gear October 12, 2008 Author Share October 12, 2008 hey all... i just came back from melaka departed from sg to melaka on sat morning 0700hrs via tuas and just came back via tuas. stayed at holiday inn. initially checked in mahkota hotel, but the room looked too run down and the immediate feeling sent chills down our spine, so decided to check out immediately! luckily they unblock our card w/o and hassle and we checked into holiday inn. i'll post more updates and pics later.. camera with g/f. btw... i tio 2 summons!!! first one is fair. i was speeding! but the 2nd one which is illeagal U-turn is seriously un justified. cuz there were at least 10 cars that did it! but im e only s'pore car! both settled with RM$50. not really worth it but shucks! dont wanna let em spoil my wkend! didnt take much pics but do stay tune for pics later on. prolly tmr. Howk Clutched October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 I will be driving down to Malacca this saturday early morning via Tuas and since this is my first ever trip driving up north could bros here share some experience with me. Anything especially to take note of and btw how do you pay the toll fee, must buy the touch and go card or still can pay by cash? I am now blurr like sotong, dont know what to expect after I reach the Tuas 2nd link?
Silver_blade Turbocharged October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 (edited) Can pay cash for toll. Getting to Melaka is easy....almost drive straight all the way from Tuas. Just follow the sign to Melaka/KL. Stay on NS H'way until you see a split road Melaka or KL (almost there). Once you pass the last toll...just follow the sign to the City/Town Centre. Just drive leisurely, stop at the rest stop when you are tired, etc....and enjoy yourself. Edited October 14, 2008 by Silver_blade
Ktgan Neutral Newbie October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 some add on, when u want to take a rest in NSH, you can stop at those big big rest area that has big food court and petrol station. it will be safer. advise not to stop at those small rest area that only has lorry. Big rest house is located at Machap and Pagoh.
Jamstart 1st Gear October 14, 2008 Share October 14, 2008 Holiday Inn is the newest hotel in Malacca, maybe around 2 yrs old. So many things are also "new". Rates is also affordable. I stayed there last year and there are many S'porean there. Morning breakfast is a chaos there, too many ppl. You can just simply walk in and sit down without anyone asking you. ↡ Advertisement
