It is usually 2 x super-single.

It is either facing the sea or city.... [drivingcar]

Hi 7007,

thanks for the reply.

Bcos wife and I are going with two elders, so think of either one or two rooms...

In this case..maybe I consider to get a room instead of two

Cheers

The chicken rice shop in Jonker Street are for Tourist. There are other nicer chicken rice stall local go to.

Gula Melaka in local cendol is too diluted as compared to Malacca.

Not sure which Jonker st chic rice you guys talking about, the only 2 original ones are:

1st - the one at the right corner just down the bridge from clock tower

2nd - same side, across the rd along Jonker st (which also sells asam pedas now).

For me, only the 1st one will do for chic rice balls - much better rice and chilli but chicken can be tough sometimes if you are unlucky..

2nd one, rice is only so so taste wise, overall the dishes and place may look more presentable..

All others? Forget it as they are merely spawns to lure unwitting tourist... [knife]

Not sure if gula melaka we find here in Singapore is using gula melaka or gula merah?... taste rather different.. perhaps a mix or different type of gula melaka?.. and do note the local chendol here is mostly coloured dark green (possibly using colouring) whereas in Melaka, it is coloured with pandan - better colour and fragrance.. [thumbsup]

What I meant for tourist is d red colour shop. The 1 on jonker is the original 1. The father of the 1 on jonker st used to sell in the shop next to the bridge in 70s. After that he moved to his own shop. The mother of the shop next to the bridge saw the chicken rice biz so good also start selling chicken rice. The bro of the shop on jonker open a 1 in Melaka raya opp public bank.

There are loads of threads on Malacca in this forum but just to add my two 2 cents worth again.

Peranakan food in Malacca is poor as are the restaurants. With all the Peranakan stuff in the 'antique' shops in Malacca whether real antiques or modern antiques I'd have thought that the restaurants would at least show some willingness to decorate in an old style Peranakan way but they don't bother. The food is halal except for Nancy's kitchen but whether halal or not is not very good IMO. Singapore Peranakan is better.

If you go to Malacca syrely you want to experience some of the local feeling.

Staying in the Holiday Inn or the Equatorial you don't get that local feeling at all. You could in fact be any similar hotel in any city in the world.

The Ba Ba House or the Puri do at least give you a feel for the place or if you want to splash out then The Majestic.

But please no international style hotel.

And the Holiday Inn is not in an accessible place.

We love Malacca and go regularly but if you like the HI or the Equ then why not stay in Singapore and stay at the Fullerton and eat at the Peranakan places in Singapore.

Just my view.

If go there to shop.... then why not at mandarin and shop till drop?
