Inflation Pressure of Reinforced / Extra Load Tyres

When upgrading tyres from 195/65R15 91H to 215/45R17 91V, we typically assumes that the new set of tyres requires the same pressure since the load index is the same. However, some tyres are "reinforced" / "extra load" tyres that were designed to carry additional weight. The inflation pressure of these tyres are different from standard tyres.

In most cases, 215/45R17 91V tyres are "extra load". So according to the articles below, if the original 195/65R15 91H tyres require 230 kPa, the new 215/45R17 91V tyres will need about 270kPa.

In general, "reinforced" / "extra load" tyres requires 6psi (approx 40kPa) of additional pressure to support the same weight as standard tyres.
