    Any lifespan for tyres?

Hi, as a newbie car owner, safety and dollar saving is my top priority. my current ride is 3yrs 2 mths, with mileage of 16k. tyres is made in 02/06, size 175/50/15 to my eyes, tyres seems fine, did a check with the mech. He too feels fine. only can see that i do some hard cornering at times. tyres yet to rotate. i understand and google a little, it seems there's no ground rules of tyres lifespan. knowing, over time, tyres will harden and become a hazard. my mthly regime of tyres maintaintence was to check they are proper balanced. 220 in front, 200 at rear as what the chasis stated. welcome views, thank you
  4. Hello All! Any idea where to sell brand new stock rims and tyres? It seems like many shop only willing to do trade in but not buy them as it is.

    Pirelli Cinturato P7

I see Pirelli Cinturato P7 topped the test done in Europe over afew of the more popular tyres. http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2010-...r-Tyre-Test.htm I seldom see people discussing about this tyre. Anyone using this can comment?
  6. (Image source: Continental) Earlier this year, we brought you the news that Michelin and GM are teaming up to bring airless tyres to the market in 2024. Continental is moving in a different direction with its growth, and the German company has come up with a self-inflating design that says it is "closely aligned with the requirements of electric and autonomous driving"–because that's the way we're all going, obviously. The concept is known as Conti C.A.R.E (standing for Connected, Autonomous, Reliable, Electrified) and the headline piece of tech is the new, self-inflating ‘PressureProof’ system. Essentially, the force generated by the turning wheel acts on a centrifugal pump, which in turn generates compressed air. The air is then placed into the tyre to continuously maintain maximum pressure while you're riding around. Continental states that any surplus compressed air would be contained in an enclosed tank so that you would never slip below the maximum pressures and see a stable reduction in CO2 emissions as well as a small increase in the average fuel economy. Because everything has to be linked these days, however, C.A.R.E tyres would also use a multitude of sensors to feed information on things such as tread depth, possible damage, tyre temperature and tyre pressure to the device. Could this be the end of passenger cars? Will the autonomous car be taking over the road in the near future?

    Run Flat Tyres

Would appreciate if anyone could share his/her experience with run flat tyres. Checking thru the Falken catalog at Stamford, I noticed the ZE 512 is available with the run flat feature on some sizes. Is this a worthwhile option for cars that don't carry a spare tyre on-board? What are the advantages and disadvantages? Are they much more costlier? Thanks for sharing.
  9. There might be times when you feel like you don't want to spend too much on tyres, or if the workshop you are in does not have the tyre size you need, which could then lead or force you to pair budget tyres with expensive ones on your car. Is it ok to do so? Will it affect your car's handling? Watch Tyre Review's video as they switch on one end of the car with a premium brand (Michelin) rear tyre, then a midrange kumho rear tyre, then a budget rear tyre to find out how it changes the car.

    Need Advice on Tyres Change

Dear All – Hope all is well. It has been a while since I start a new thread. I need some advices on tyre change. I have sleepless nights. I am currently driving a manual Avante 1.6L car. Just this Saturday (4th May) I just changed my 2 old tyres (Kumho) installed in the front, to 2 new one (BFGoodRich Advantage T/A) My previous Kumho was changed on 11 July 2015 at a Mileage or 39800km Last Saturday 4th May 2019, I went to one workshop to request for a tyre rotation service because last November when I went to Komoco to service, they refuse to rotate for me because they told me my Kumho tyres are getting bald head (BOTAK), 2 words from them "NO POINT". In the end under Mechanic’s advice last Saturday (in Bukit Merah Lane), I changed Kumho to BFGoodRich. Kind of confused why need to change now and I cannot find any good review on BFGOODRICH! Per last Saturday, my car Mileage read 79285km (Means my Kumho ran for 39485km approximately. Now the configuration of my Avante is 2 Front tyres is a pair of BFGoodRich 2018 and 2 Back Tyres is a pair of Michelin 2012 (Changed before I change Kumho) My Question now is Is it necessary to change my Back Tyres to a pair of new one? Should I use back BFGoodRich? The threading still left a lot to use. Is Michelin brand. Hence I just want to confirm can we use a 7 years old Tyres? I went to Sin Ming one of the Motor shop to request to change BFGoodRich from front to back so that I want to wear off the Michelin pair when I put them in front, Uncle told me he refused to change because Michelin ones are 2012. He told me his has a strong principle being a professional car mechanic, what happen if after he changed and then my car got into accident? May I know what are my options? I have sleepless nights after I changed to BFGoodRich. Because I intend to change all four to GoodYear which I have been researching for months that Good Year are fuel efficient tyres. Option1: Change Michelin to BFGoodRich? Option2: remain same configuration under COE ends? Option3: Change all 4 tyres to GoodYear? Option4: Sell my car now and get a 7 seater? My COE ending 2020 May next year. Mileage done is still less 80k. one Full Tank 45L I can clock 700km per 1 pump of 95. I only drive on Sat and Sun. Mine is a OPC. Thank you.

    Tyre Rotation every 10k?

Hi Guys, got a question and need advice here. lets say car is FWD/RWD, rotate tyre at 10k. does it make sense to rotate next at 30k? since at 10k, lets say front tyre wear 20% and rear 10%, so after rotating and mileage at 20k, should be front and rear balanced, right? i know driving style play a part during the 10-20k, just saying generally.

    New rims and tyres!

I just change my rims to 225/17/50 profile for my 17" OZ Leggera HLT 8J, is this the correct size? I wanted 215 width but Auto Kinetic says 225 is "Fuller" look. Don't quite understand. Any expert advice please? Thanks!

    DAVANTI Tyres

Am surprised that there is nothing on DAVANTI when I searched this forum. Anyone using them? I recommend taking a look at them for after using them for about 6 months, I found them better then the continental tyres that I used previously. Better in traction during wet weather driving up the basement car park. Previously, the tires may spin when it rained but after using DAVANTI, I have not had such an experience. Do your own research https://www.davanti-tyres.com/Reviews >
  21. Heey all Any difference in quality between the 2? I cannot seems to find thai made Primacy 4 (235/55/18). Was offereed the chinese made option. So at a dilemma. Anyone can suggest or feedback?
  22. As above, has anyone tried Nexen tyres before? Was told by tyre shop its a "Kimchi" tyre which is relatively new in Singapore; did a search and can't find much info here. I checked and a set of 205/45/R16 rated at 87W XL is S$60 cheaper than Thai made Eagle F1s. More info @ http://www.nexentire.co.kr/english/product...=N3000&expend=1 Did a search on goggle and its compound contains silica, UTQG rating: Threadwear @ 340 Traction AA Temperature A They seem pretty popular in the States for its performance and price, many have commented that its a quiet HP tyre. Curb Rash on Rim

may I know where can I go to repair my rim? got some curb rash and wish to know where can I go to have this resolve. Thank You
  24. Hi, I am thinking of changing my tyres on my Estima. Current I am using Dunlop (225/50R18) but few months back it hit a nail so I am contemplating to change it soon. The current model as I have checked with many shops are hard to replace (ie such models are not common in the marketl) so it's best to change all 4. I have been reading that certain brands have their pros and cons. In my previous ride which is a Toyota Wish from BM, I used to always use Yokohama (stock). I am not into tyres so basically safety is the top prority and I do travel to Malaysia quite abit with my family. Any brand of tyres to be recommended for safety and fuel efficency? Thks.
  25. I made my trip last week to JB to change my set of tyres Michelin 195/65R15 XM2 4pcs Made in Thailand 2016 tyres at RM240 per piece. The tyre performance was really great and I got saving of atleast RM500 as compare to changing to Singapore (Saving from Tyres & Petrol). The cheapest price I could get in Singapore for this particular tyre was S$120/piece, and thus the discount is at least 50% as compared to changing tyres in JB. You guys can check it out this seller at Carousel @ https://carousell.com/p/66822027/. The service was great and I enjoyed a good Bak Kut Teh at Taman Sentosa
