These new vehicles will join the automaker's existing e:N Series EV lineup that is already on sale in China, and they will begin going on sale before the end of the year. The first two models that will arrive are the Ye P7 and Ye S7. The pair will ride on a newly developed EV platform available in single-motor, rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configurations. Honda says it will tailor the RWD variants "to offer sporty and crisp handling" while gearing the AWD versions toward "high power and highly responsive handling." The photos show the two EVs in just a couple of angles, with the pair featuring similar silhouettes. However, both have distinct front fascias, with the S7's styling being a bit sportier than its sibling. The brand also has plans to launch future production models based on the Ye GT Concept. The GT has a coupe-like profile—it looks like a squished S7—with a pointier nose, sleeker headlights, no cladding, and a wide, low profile. Honda doesn't offer much regarding the GT's specs, but it said it designed the EV "to provide the ultimate driving experience." It'll also be the first Honda automobile ever to feature a large screen for the front seat passenger. Honda says the Ye P7 and Ye S7 will go on sale before the end of this year. Production models based on the Ye GT Concept will hit dealer lots in China by the end of 2025. The company plans to introduce 10 new EVs in the Chinese market by 2027, six of which will be new Ye Series models. Its latest series of EVs is all part of the automaker's plan to shift its lineup to fully electric vehicles in China by 2035.

In the US$1.2 trillion (S$1.6 trillion) second-hand market, prices for battery-powered cars are falling faster than for their combustion-engine cousins. Buyers are shunning them due to a lack of subsidies, a desire to wait for better technology, and continued shortfalls in charging infrastructures. A fierce price war sparked by Tesla and competitive Chinese models are further depressing values of new and used cars alike, threatening earnings at rivals like Volkswagen (VW) and Stellantis. Because most new vehicles in Europe are sold via leases, automakers and dealers who finance these transactions are trying to recover losses from plummeting valuations by raising borrowing costs. That is hitting demand in some European markets that were in the vanguard of the shift away from fossil fuel-powered propulsion. Some of the biggest buyers of new cars, including rental firms, are cutting back on EV adoption because they are losing money on resales, with Sixt dropping Tesla models from its fleet. “When a car loses 1 per cent of its worth, I make 1 per cent less profit,” said Mr Christian Dahlheim, who heads VW’s financial services arm. The issues with second-hand EVs, he added, have the potential to destroy billions of euros in earnings for the broader industry. The problems are expected to intensify in 2024, when many of the 1.2 million EVs sold in Europe in 2021 will come off their three-year leasing contracts and enter the second-hand market. How companies tackle this problem will be key for their bottom lines, consumer confidence and ultimately decarbonisation – including the European Union’s plan to phase out sales of new fuel-burning cars by 2035. “There isn’t used-car demand for EVs,” said Mr Matt Harrison, Toyota Motor’s chief operating officer in Europe. “That’s really hurting the cost-of-ownership story.” Companies can funnel battery-powered cars into mobility offerings and ride-sharing start-ups, but there is limited demand from these businesses. Unwanted combustion cars often end up in Africa, where their poor state causes pollution issues. That market is largely shut to EVs because it has no viable infrastructure to charge them.
  3. Hi folks! I have not seen related discussion before hence starting one. All EV drivers, please share your experiences and recommendations for tyres? I know most EVs are new in Singapore. Tesla, BYD, BMW I series, Mercedes EQ series, Audi e-tron series etc. EV cars are much heavier than ICE, tyres I guess have to use EV specific ones to achieve good comfort, performance and most importantly thread wear. I am currently driving BMW iX3, stock came with Yokohama, hence I am looking around. Explored tyrereviews and understand that Michelin , Bridgestone, Goodyear are the top 3 tyres, are they also good for EVs? Correct me if I am wrong. Hope to hear from you all! TIA

Long-range electric GT is almost production-ready; IP goes up for sale as parent company falters Source: https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/nevs-emily-gt-saab-engineers-shock-621-mile-ev NEVS, the electric car company born from the ashes of Saab more than a decade ago, has revealed the sophisticated model it was developing before its Chinese owners put it in “hibernation mode”. The Emily GT is claimed to be capable of driving more than 1000km (621 miles) between charges, thanks to a huge 175kWh battery. Battery capacities of 140kWh and 105kWh were also planned, as was 11kW wireless charging via a pad connected to a fixed hub. In-wheel motors making 121bhp are mounted at each corner, giving the Emily GT 484bhp in total. Each motor sandwiches a drive unit between the alloy wheel and the aluminium brake disc, reportedly giving finer control of torque vectoring. Such was the extent of the vectoring that the car could turn without using the steering wheel. Emily programme director and former Saab engineer Peter Dahl told Swedish publication Carup: “The possibilities for torque vectoring are fantastic. All torque can be controlled. It’s like changing from straight slalom skis to carving skis. "In addition, the wheel motors ensure that all backlash is eliminated, resulting in an incredibly direct and solid feeling. “On the downside, the unsprung weight on each wheel is higher. We have solved that with a good chassis with air suspension and active dampers.” A high-performance variant of the Emily was also in the pipeline, with planned outputs of 653bhp and 1623lb ft. This would cut its 0-62mph sprint time down from 4.6sec to 3.2sec. The striking styling – which bears a strong resemblance to the final Saab 9-3 and Saab 9-5 – is reported to have been penned by an unnamed Italian and refined by former Saab designers. NEVS' owner, the Evergrande Group, originally signed off a run of 20 prototypes. However, Evergrande – which made its fortune as one of China’s most prolific property developers – hit financial problems in 2020, and only six were built. Evergrande put NEVS into "hibernation" last month, having failed to secure a buyer. Of the Swedish firm’s 340 employees, 320 were laid off. Polestar signed a lease for part of NEVS' Trollhättan factory, which was formerly home to Saab, according to a statement from the Swedish city. The Volvo spin-off will use the facility as an R&D base for its future EVs. New NEVS CEO Nina Selander is now seeking a buyer for the Emily project and has encouraged interested parties to contact the company. “It's for sale. It's also a joy to be able to show it,” she told Carup. Dahl added that the project is about a year and a half away from being production-ready. He said: “Everything is in place to take it further into production. The prototypes are completely drivable, except that the airbag and auto-braking systems are missing.” The Emily prototypes use a 52kWh battery from the NEVS 9-3, an electric conversion of the Saab of the same name.

Google says that starting today, it is rolling out to users in “nearly 40” European countries, including France, Ireland, Poland, Spain, and the UK. (It was introduced in Germany last month.) Google’s also adding the ability to tell Maps if your car has a diesel, gas, hybrid, or electric powertrain, so it can find the most efficient route for your specific type of vehicle and provide more accurate estimates on how much more efficient the eco-friendly route is. The system is built on information pulled from the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and European Environment Agency, combined with Google Maps driving trends to train machine learning models based on the most popular engines in given regions. Using an example from Google’s blog post, this could mean that people with diesel-powered vehicles will be routed along a high-speed freeway, where their engines will be most efficient, whereas someone with a hybrid or electric vehicle might get suggestions including surface streets where they can take better advantage of regenerative braking. While I welcome the idea of having this powerbank in an EV, the additional fire risk has to be taken into consideration too, for those interested. ZipCharge Go Portable Electric Vehicle Charge Introduced at COP26 A UK startup called ZipCharge introduced its portable electric vehicle charger called the Go at COP26. The Go is a compact, with size and shape of an average-sized carry-on suitcase, and weighs about 23 Kg. It has a 4 kWh (net capacity) battery and can charge an EV at 7.2 kW. However, larger versions will also be introduced, offering up to 8 kWh of net capacity. In a little more than 30 minutes, the 4 kWh version can add approximately 19 to 32 Km of range, depending on how efficient the EV is. The larger 8 kWh unit needs about an hour to fully discharge and will add roughly 40 to 64 Km of driving range. The ZipCharge Go is targeted for consumer use and will be available for purchase (pricing hasn't been announced) as well as leased, with a starting lease price of £49 (S$90) per month. ZipCharge plans to begin customer deliveries in Q4 2022. Basic software functionality will be available to everyone so they can plan and schedule charging, however, enhanced AI software functionality and insurance will be offered on subscription for a small monthly fee which, on average, will save the user £15-20 (S$28 - S$37) per month.

Some six months later, this fleet of twelve green warriors has clocked up around 250,000km. As the service is greatly appreciated by the Dutch citizens, Taxi-E plans to expand the number of EVs in their fleet, although the actual figure is not specified. The company
