  1. Anybody tried the above product or similar products before It only works for small car A/C leaks, but perhaps worth while if the small leaks happen at the evaporator (aka cooling coil) which might require dash board dismantling to install a new coil
  2. Just to share. Recently my coolant leaks and I brought my car to Autosaver. Was asked to replace the whole radiator tank. Parts and labour (incl coolant and new thermostat) cost me close to $700. Now monitoring and hope the problem is solve...
  3. Folks need to seek your advice. Recently, my neighbour from one storey below mine informed me that water from my bathroom floor leaks through their ceiling. Some work might be needed to resolve the issue. As we are staying in old HDB flat, what is the best way to address the issue? 1. Contact HDB and get HDB appointed contractor to do the work. 2. Get an independent contractor to do the repair work. Would there be any subsidy from HDB for the repair work? How should the payment be split? 50-50 with neighbour, or 100% on me? Many thanks.
  4. What a good doctor - posting patient condition on twitter - "A medical student could be in trouble after mocking a young patient for apparently getting pregnant five times and undergoing three abortions. The 22-year-old woman, who describes herself on her Facebook profile as a final-year student in the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS), broke the doctor
  5. [extract] I recently experienced some unevenness (car pulling to the right side) feeling while driving my car one day and after parking my car, I checked my tyres. All four tyres looked fine to me and knowing that I am no tyre expert, I took my car to a workshop the next day. According to the workshop
  6. Hi, I am back! having driven this Optra for the past 5 years, I don't really have much complaint other than the rattling noise from the dash board. Recently, or rather last week, I notice a drop of black oil stain on the patio of my car porch. Seem to be engine oil of the size of a 50 cents coin. I am not sure if this is from the engine block or any other parts. Do you guys know anything or how much it would cost to fix this? Any recommendation where to get this fixed? Care to just drop me an email [email protected] thank you
  7. The variable valve-timing obsessives at the Temple of VTEC have scored a leaked brochure of the 2011 Honda CR-Z, and in addition to getting a glimpse of the production version of the hybrid hatch, some specs and trim details were included in the document. We finally have hard figures on the 1.5-liter engine's output (in JDM spec), with the diminutive four-cylinder putting out 112 horsepower (at 6,000 rpm) on its own and another 14 hp from its electric motor. Just as importantly, the engine creates 107 lb-ft of torque (at 4,800 rpm) with the Integrated Motor Assist (IMA) system boosting that by another 57 lb-ft at an oh-so-low 1,000 rpm. Coupled with either a six-speed manual or CVT gearbox, the CR-Z nets a relatively uninspiring 0 to 62 mph time of 9.7 seconds. The dimensions haven't changed much from the "concept" we saw at the Tokyo Motor Show earlier this year, with a 160.6-inch overall length, 68.5-inch width, 54.9-inch height and a wheelbase that spans 95.9 inches. Unfortunately, no word on curb weight. Since efficiency is the name of the game, the CR-Z will benefit from LED daytime running lights and turn signal indicators in the mirrors, along with three driving modes
  8. I can smell petrol whenever my tank is full. Do not see any leaks at all. Not sure if it has anything to do with the petrol vent line. Has anyone encountered the same issue? Any recommendation mechanic for checking petrol tank leaks?
  9. I'm just speechless when I saw this. Just waiting for 'them' to cook up some story. Taken from STOMP. http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/viewPost5127.aspx [inline 070828_ss_mmmrt.jpg]http://www.stomp.com.sg/ss/070828_ss_mmmrt.jpg
  10. went to my workshop yesterday to do some stuff and he detected 2 different kind of leaks under the car 1) Engine oil - there was this little bit of engine oil hanging at the undercarriage and 2) Power steering fluid - there was this piece of cover at the undercarriage that was a little oily, obviously smudged with oil. Driving a 1.5 sunny about 5 yrs, 90k milage. He told me that the engine oil leak is due to some worn out O ring or something like that. He advised no concern as it's pretty normal for old cars and no need to change. For the power steering fluid leak, he's doing a follow up on that during next servicing to see how much fluid dropped in the reservoir. but he suspects it's due to the power steering pump. he advised getting a refurbished pump if there really is a need to change. any advise?
  11. Hi bros, what's cost of replacing water pump? Found leakage of coolant at engine block location.
  12. an extract from the web: http://autos.msn.com/...px?contentid=4022457 Leaks What are those drips and puddles under your car? by Larry E. Hall There are nearly a dozen liquids that can leak out of your car. Only one type of leak is desirable and one other is of minor importance. Leakage of other fluids, however, can lead to an expensive breakdown if not corrected. Some leaks affect driving safety. Gases leaking from the exhaust system can let deadly carbon monoxide enter the passenger compartment. Air leaking out of a tire can create a serious handling problem. Of the liquid leaks, fuel and brake fluid are the most serious, windshield-washer solution the least. A puddle of clear water under your vehicle on a warm day is probably condensation from the air conditioner
  13. STOCKHOLM, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Volvo Cars, owned by Ford Motor Co (F.N), is asking 71,000 car owners to bring in their vehicles to check for petrol leaks into the engine compartment, the company's spokesman said on Saturday. Volvo, known for its safe family car image, had received reports of driveability problems due to such leakages, spokesman Bo Larsen told Reuters. He said Volvo was recalling all its 2003 and 2004 models of the V40 and S40 type, most of them sold in the United States, Sweden and Britain. "It (fuel) can leak into the engine area, but it's a very restricted area. Of course no car manufacturer is especially glad that there is a fuel leakage," Larsen said.Swedish newspaper Metro reported that the leakage into the engine area could cause fires, but Larsen said Volvo had not heard of any such incidents. Most of the car owners affected had already been sent letters asking them to have their vehicles checked at a garage. Volvo would install a securing clamp to prevent any problems, Larsen said.

    Oil Leaks

Some tips from vptuning.com (formerly volvotuning.com): Oil leaks of any type are annoying, but when one starts and is left ignored it can lead to a very serious problem. I have seen many a time where a simple fix could have stopped a leak but was overlooked. The fix that I am talking about is when you have your oil changed or a maintenance performed as per your owners manual. The most overlooked thing is the seal on top of the valve cover for the cap. There are quite a few cars that come in for oil changes and have oil running down the backside of the engine and down onto the exhaust system. The oil can also go to the front of the engine and run down by the water pump, timing belt and lower crank pulley. This can lead to a lot of repairs, which could have been avoided. Whenever possible, cleaning off all the residue from an oil leak can help insure that the proper leak is addressed. Even pouring oil tracer dye after this is done and rechecking to see if there are any other leaks. A special light is used when pinpointing oil leaks after dye is put into the crankcase. Making sure that the breather system for the crankcase ventilation system is cleaned and that the flame trap is checked and replaced is vital to stopping leaks from starting. On the turbo system there is still a connection just like the non-turbo but there is no flame trap in the holder. Making sure that the vent lines are clear is still important though. On all of the newest Volvos there is no flame trap at all, so when you check it use the same procedure as the turbo system in the 850's. All the above also applies to the S/90 & V/90s' as they have the same setup. I know that this is a lot about oil cap seals and oil leaks but if you do the cheapest seal first then you can avoid the smell from oil running down onto the exhaust and burning off.
