Hello Forummers,

Wish to share infos ..... Not Tanjung Pinang.

If you want out of the box itineries, drive out of the Lagoi resort area ;-

1. visits the small town at Tanjong Uban 45 mins and eat at this local Restaurant 'Sukaria'. Good Food at reasonable prices.

2. Vists coastal area Subong 20 mins, Good Sea food lunch or dinner.

3. Visits the Lobam Industrial Park, Check it out for your Future economical manufacturing site and have lunch at their Food Court 'Pujasera' Indonesian Style.

IF you want It Tough, Do it the Mountain Bikers way.

I dun think $400 for a 3D2N trip to bintang is enuff, if u wanna enjoy seafood, shop for some local produce, sightseeing and etc.

it's a cut throat place unless u go to tg pinang which is almost 2 hrs ride from the resorts area. But then, that place , you got to explain to ur better half why so many singapore ah peks have a syt indon gal in tow at hotels or eatery places.

forget about the kelong restaurant, a lunch for a family of 2 adults, one 9 yo kid, one 2 yo toddler, for a steam live 600g groupa, 300g prawn, squid, 500g gong gong, one vege, plus fruit juice, came to almost $100....yup, singapore price...not to forget the taxi from resort to go there, a short 10 mins ride costs S$8 per way.

dinner at the cultural village for simple dishes costs S$70....

went there once in 2007...spent $1.2k including hotel for 3D2N....only highlight was that I booked deluxe room, but they upgraded me to beachside suite as it was low season..

all in all, cut throat place, everything sgp price, even taxi near that area quote price in sing dollar...u can pay them in S$ and they will give u change in s$ also...same goes to buying stuff at the shops...

if u just wanna relax at resort using their facilities and enjoy the decent spa treatment, I would suggest batam, much better value for money...

2 quick Qs:

(i) If I drive and park at TMFT, is the carpark there crowded and chances of getting a lot easily? Anyone encountered full house before?

(ii) any recommendation for car rental in Bintan? Must be reliable and economical. Not fussy about make/model.
