Hi all, have some qns regarding active subwoofer.

- Is there a noticeable difference before and after installation?

- Suggest to place under driver or passenger seat? Heard there's quite a bit of vibrations.

- Is a capacitor necessary after installing an active subwoofer? Currently with an amp and 2 sets of component speakers.

Thanks in advance.

Hi all,

Just to ask some additinal noob here sorri..

Just like some bass to go with songs, not into ICE so hoping the underseat active will be enuff.

Also how do we adjust the setting of this kinda active sub? Through the HU can adjust 0 bass to Max bass?

Some i see a cabled remote attached to this active sub, so everytime must reach under the seat to adjust?

Thanks to all in advance!!!

Definitely will have some difference but dun expect some drastic since it's only an active subwoofer.

U can ask the installer to stick the wired remote onto your dashboard or anywhere where it's convenient for you to adjust the bass level. The wire for the remote at least 1m long.

Last time I installed a active subwoofer at the boot of my Jazz and the remote still can be attached at the dashboard.

yes, otherwise why would people install it.. but have to see which type of Active sub and the car you have to see how great the effect is

Depends on car, if it's hatch, then maybe boot area...

not really... your friendly installer will advise you.. but with only an amp, i don't think so. I have 4 channel amp myself..

Thanks in advance.

Thanks very much!

So I guess it not possible to skip the wired remote and purely adjust through the HU?

You can also adjust the bass thru' your HU if there's the function. But I think this can only be done if the subwoofer is connected to the HU using those red & white cable. There should be a 'subwoofer out' behind the HU.

the steelmate has one version with the remote and another without the remote. the one without the remote was claimed to be the newer model hence i got the Rodek with remote. can be adjusted through the headunit(if yrs has the function) as well.

my feedback is that if the bass turn up too much, depending on the type of music, the woofer cone will hit against the metal grill causing loud "ting" "ting" sound. hence there is a limit to how high u can turn up the bass. therefore with the remote, i can quickly turn down the volume while driving rather than fiddle with the headunit to get to the bass settings.
