Yuan 6th Gear February 3, 2009 Share February 3, 2009 Just curious. Are the higher grades of shock absorbers better than the higher ends of coilovers? Since there are the stiffer or tougher shock absorbers, why are people still going for coilovers? Might as well invest in a good set of springs and good shocks since some of the better known shocks are claimed to be more "hardcore or track use". I know coilovers come in a set and they are "in a way configured" to function as a system. Correct me if I am wrong. I understand that stock springs can last for 10 years of the car. Coilovers may last 3-5 years depends on usage. If that is the case, isn't the use of stock springs a better chance? Just check the shocks at the required mileage and change it when necessary. Route88 2nd Gear February 3, 2009 Share February 3, 2009 2 school of thoughts Coil-over = lowered looks,very stiff,track use,sometimes got squueky sound. Spring + abs combo = comfort. After changing, my ride becomes more stiff. Handling is more responsive. Changing of lanes at high speed is alot more stable (used to have this wobbling feeling when on stock absorbers). In the end, conclusion of the change. Definately worth it. My stock shock absorbers are definately gone, as I can use my hands to depress it easily...
