Neutral Newbie

Hi guys, i need some help. Just received my Insurance renewal notice and its damn expensive. Like 200+ more then what i paid last year.

I'm only 23 years old with 1+ year driving experience. For comprehensive i have to pay $3k+

So right now i'll like to use my Uncle name(51 years old, 30+ years driving experience) to buy insurance for my car. Problem is the car is registered under my name when i bought it last year.

So the question is: how do i go about doing it, buying insurance under my Uncle name for a lower premium while able to drive the car myself.

Pls advise. Thank you.

You can change ownership of vehicle to your uncle but then the financing got to be re-arrange again.....change of owner=transfer fees to LTA...... [sweatdrop]

like that meaning i'll incur more interest in the process of reloan.. so mafan.. guess i have to pay insurance under my name..

If you were able to transfer the ownership under your uncle's name, and put yourself as a named driver, your premium will still be high based on your profile loaded.

If you do not put yourself as a named driver, you will incur additional excess of $2000-$3000 depending on insurance.

So its more a case of paying 1st or paying only when you have an accident, sort of like a LPPL situation, if you have an accident.

hi all,

I've always relied on this agency, I-N-S Group to help souce for the cheapest quote in the market since I've started driving 5 years ago. It's like providing a one stop service for their customers. I was being introduced by my fren to this website and I'm totally satisfied with their resouceful quotations & service.

totally no obligations, you can email them for quotations however I prefer to talk to them. :)

MSIG is trying to reduce their portfolio of car insurance coverage, thus not offering competitive rates to secure business.

Well.. car insurance rate are going up. Companies that used to provide competitive rates are no longer give good premiums..

Good to get more quotes before paying.

Putting the bad claim experiences we used to hear aside about Income, I am quite impressed how efficient Income generates quotation out. Within 15 minutes by telephones, the sale person is able to give me quotes for different insurance plans including third parties.

In my case, the quotes given by income is the most competitive so far.. about $1300 for comprehensive plan for 1 year plus driving experience n above 35 yo.

This $1300 is based on using Income own motor shop. If any workshop, cost about $1600 which is still the lowest among all I can find.

I am considering Income workshop even though my car is under warranty for 3 years by AD. Is it worthwhile to pay $300-$400 just to cover under AD workshop. It is a problem of probability which I have to ponder over these few days to decide which plan to go for.

If the fault is clearly not yours in an accident, you can still go to your AD workshop for servicing and claim from the other party. So the morale of the story is to drive safely.

some more information to share about my renewal experiences...

nowadays, Drive Shield by MSIG and AIG are the most un-friendly towards drivers which has less than 2 years driving experiences by imposing a high excess of $2000 - $3000.

Especially AIG, when i received my renewal notice, they have upped the definition of new drivers from 1 year to 2 years... and their excess is now $600 + $3000. ridiculous and absurb.

Car insurance is one where loyalty does not count.

Hope those newbie bro/sis who are renewing their policies can forget about contacting them for quotation... [rolleyes]
