    FWD Insurance

Any bros here is on FWD insurance: My vehicle insurance is going to expire soon and I went online to check it out and FWD provided an almost unimaginable offer. My details 29 years old married driving experience more than 5 30% NCD Suzuki swift sport 09 Excess was $1500. Can reduce to $500, additional 100 on quote The quote was about 650 still have 100 CapitaLand voucher which basically the whole insurance package cost only 550 effectively. which is too good to be true
  6. Friends I was looking at home and fire insurance for my place and I found out some things: the fire insurance that the bank makes you take when you have a loan will pay the bank first so if there’s no money left you come out empty Second is there anyone in their MCST? What does the condo insurance cover? Say there’s a fire in your home which damages the walls or some infrastructure, does the policy cover it? I've been diving into this recently - lets use an example say a homeowner is cooking and the cooker catches fire: (A) Burns only his own unit - walls are charred, tiles need to be replaced but no structural issues) (B) Burns only his own unit - fire burns through structural beam and needs looking into and repair (C) Burns his own unit, and burns through to the upstairs unit including structural issues Are all these issues covered under MCST insurance? Looking specifically at the building replacement, not renovation or contents insurance

    Car Insurance Scam??

93K u'd think someone nearly died in this accident... Higher than the car value.. 5k maybe even excessive. Taking this as real and not fake news, how to dispute such insurance claims?
  8. My car skidded and I went to make a claim. My car insurance company gave me 2 choices: 1) Claim total loss - $45k 2) Claim repair cost - Car Repair Cost $16k+/- after reducing the market value of my car, insurance company is only willing to pay $9k( they called it Economic Repair Limit) so I got to fork out $8k out of my own pocket. Which option would you guys take? Is there a third option?
  9. i was diagnosed with high blood pressure about 6 years ago and have been on meds. (one pill a day). bought a GE hospital policy b4 my disgnosis and when i got warded for another issue, the co-payment thing applied. then my GE agent approached me and asked me to upgrade to their "100%" claim plan ... but required me to undergo medical tests which i have to pay for myself and not guarantee will accept my enrolment. so i refused to go for the med check and they rejected the proposal. then my AIA agent came to see me one day and told me about their 100% claim plan and then filled up the proposal and told me will get back to me. Called me up the next day and told me that his office told him that NOBODY will cover me becoz of my HBP. talked to an Aviva rep also ... and she also told me roughly the same thing ... pay more and and with exclusion. best one was got a cold-call from another AIA agent about 2 months back ... said will try to see what he can do .... never heard from him again after i told him i got HBP. so far have not had any sickness due to my HBP but it seems that insurance cos are very prudent nowadays with their selection of customers. any ins cos out there willing to cover me ??

Weird things are happening in Yishun again!

Weird things are happening in Yishun again. To be precise, at Blk 509B Yishun Ave 4 on the 20th July. For no apparent reason, this guy in orange simply falls down on his own as 'invisible forces' make him lose his balance. Also seen on SG Road Vigilante and circling around in many whatsapp group chat, this is clip is the perfect antidote for a boring and sleepy Monday. This should be a case of the guy wanting to try out an 'insurance scam' where by the pedestrian attempts to get hit by a moving car before proceeding to get compensation from the driver's insurance company. Unfortunately for the guy in orange, he looks quite silly 'falling' twice and with the driver's in-car camera showing clearly no signs of impact, his attempt is bound to fail. Check out what netizens have to say...
  11. Some people don't deserve to drive. Watch the video below and see whether you agree with our harsh comment or not. Posted by My Grandfather's Road, another traffic-shaming facebook page, is this video of a Honda City that almost came to a complete stop while on the first lane of the ECP. It is unclear how long ago this accident happened as the in-car camera video dates the incident on the 27th of Dec 2019 but the post was published today, 22nd of July 2020. We have no idea why the Honda driver attempted to slow down. Could it be that he or she realised that there is an exit and wanted to turn off at the last minute?
  12. Even if you are in a hurry, this is not the way to ride. Spotted going around group chats in Whatapp, a video of a biker who tried to overtake and crashed has gone viral recently. The accident which happened on TPE near IKEA Tampines, in the direction of Pasir Ris, was captured by the camera car on 27 Jun 2020. In the video we can see this biker who apparently had no bike license or insurance crashing badly while he tried to overtake the camera car which was changing lanes. Check out how far his bike went ahead of the camera car after the collision! According to Sg Road Vigilante, the rider was later arrested. Thankfully, the rider escaped death and we hope the authorities deal with him properly for hurting the road divider that he crashed into. Check out what netizens have to say about this crash!
  13. Just curious... Coz it crossed my mind when I saw the two yellow lambs accident. Let's say a person takes a car or for a test drive and ends up hitting another car. I can safely say that the insurance will cover both cars. But unlike private owner whereby the one will caused the accident will have a huge jump in his premium the following year, will the car dealer be penalised the same way also? Or will the premium increase follow the test driver?

    CTL Claims

Hello seniors, need some advice here. Was involved in accident few days back, and reported to authorised workshop to claim against 3rd party as I was rear ended. 3rd party sent surveyor down and after assessment, declare it as "non-economical to repair", and offer a lump sum figure/mkt value (made up of repair limit + my parf) to settle the case. Workshop's advice to me is that if i'm going to claim CTL, (constructive total loss) i should go and claim own damage and claim CTL as the process will be faster and i do not have to do anything as all paperwork, outstanding loan all will be settled by my insurance cmpy. Compare to claiming CTL from 3rd party, where i have to find find scrap yard and send the car to scrap myself, deregister from LTA myself to get my parf back to make up the lump sum figure, as 3rd party insurance will only pay me the repair limit which is part of the lump sum compensated to me. Question is, is this the correct process? That I had to scrap the car myself, deregister myself to get back the PARF and wait for 3rd party insurance payout of the repair limit to me? Or should it be that my car will be under the possess of 3rd party insurance, they paid me the full lump sum(mkt value) and they do the recovery etc. themselves?
  15. 1. A motor insurance may be cheap, eg. DirectAsia (this is my current plan after I've switched from AAS available insurance plans since 2+ years ago). However, I have recently been told that when it comes to claims, there seems to be fineprints that void certain claims, eg. windscreen. 2. My NCD is 50% discount and I am thinking thrice now about renewing with DirectAsia - because in case I have claims, I don't want to be caught by it's fineprints. 3. This survey is to crowdsource motor insurance claim experiences from fellow forumers who have had at least 1 claim and would appreciate if you can reply by stating these information: (a) Name of Insurance company (and the motor plan if you recall, if not nevermind) (b) Give a score of between -10 to +10 (where the extreme -10 is no claim despite your situation being seemingly a valid claim, and +10 if your claim process is a smooth and quick claim with bare minimum fuss) © Optional: Which year? (if you remember) (d) Optional: You may also choose to elaborate your score, esp. if it's very negative or very positive - optional. 4. While a few data points may not be reliable, however if we have a lot of data points (eg. 100 people claiming terrible experiences with company XXX, or excellent experiences with AAA, then we know what is more probable). 5. 16. hi guys, Need some input: I'm about to get a double cab pickup ( 2nd hand), was sourcing around for some insurance quotes, one agent got back to me with like a quote of almost $2k and tells me that premium for commercial vehicles increase year by year ( not like normal car, go down year by year due to NCB) i know the NCB cap is like 20%, but wtf, commercial vehicle so expensive meh? pick up will be registered under personal name ( no company involved) and this is possible as it is a double cab. But is it true insurance for these kind of vehicle so expensive? thanks in advance guys cheers
  17. My car is turning 3 soon, and due for insurance renewal. For the past 3 years, I kena hit-n-run twice when parked stationary at carparks. Both times, I managed to successfully claim from the culprits. I understand not-at-fault claims are likely to increase insurance premiums. But my car was parked stationary and I was not even in the car. It's not caused by aggressive driving behaviours. Do insurance companies review the situations that resulted in the no-at-fault claims on a case by case basis?
  18. With what seems like more drunk driving cases, someone suggested this measure. Do you agree with it? maybe, if those lie to say not driving but caught driving, double the punishment to the driver, passengers only. EXTRACTED FROM THE NEWSPAPER.
  19. Scenario goes like this: I was stuck behind a line of cars in Lane 1 turning right so I decided to filter to Lane 2. Waited a while for some cars to pass, finally all-clear. I had entered the lane about half-way when this Nissan Note collided into my front left. I dunno whether it's evident in the video but he was filtering from Lane 3 to Lane 2. We stopped by the side and exchanged particulars and since I was in a rush to fetch my family from airport, we left the scene shortly. I did tell him that this is a 50-50 liability accident as both of us were filtering into the middle lane, so we should just both settle our own damages. https://youtu.be/P6gZbveV6Hs Subsequently, he messaged me to tell me that he's going to report the accident and claim my insurance. 50-50 accident can claim the other party's insurance? He feels that I'm totally at fault for this accident. When he makes the accident report, will the person advise him that this is likely a 50-50 scenario and thus, he should pay out of pocket for his damage? His car was quite badly damaged (dents, scratches from front driver door to rear) whereas mine can probably be settled with a polishing session. Sincerely seeking forumers' advice on whether you feel the fault lies with either party and experience in whether his claim against my insurance can be valid. This is my first at-fault accident over 13 years of driving, so not quite sure how an opposing claim on my own insurance will be handled. If he does claim successfully, I'll feel extremely aggrieved as it's clearly a case of 2 cars entering the same lane (50-50% liability according to BOLA) and risk losing my 50+5% NCD over this. P.S. My damage vs his really showed the difference between a Conti and Jap car in the event of a collision.
  20. Just want to check have anyone of you make any successful claim to Jetcover before? it is a travel insurance policy. early this month i have tried to make a claim due to the flight delay of about 8 hours . after sending the document which they require, one week later, i received a email reply asking for the same document again, i tried again to resend it with attachment and include my HP no. for her to call me, another week past, i receive the same reply again.. the frustration is they do not leave any tel no. for me to call back and ask.... and when i tried to contact the insurance claim no. from the website, the insurance claim that they are from different department, and when i asking for the telephone no. for the relevant claim department, their reply are they do not know the no??? week after week, how can we expect much from this in-house insurance company when they can't even have a proper customer office who can handle all these enquires when customer having problem. 22. Hi all, was very unlucky and got hit by a malaysian van today. My Toyota Altis is just 3 weeks old. It hit our car on the back and obviously it's the van driver's fault as we were stationary at the red light. No injuries and did a police report together. Later then found out that Borneo motors won't do a claim against 3rd party and especially a Malaysian insurance conpany. Found out that total repair cost would be $1500 but the van driver isn't willing to pay as he keep insisting he is covered by insurance and have the rights not to pay a single cent. He then verbally agreed to fork out $1k as a goodwill but it has to be over a few months as he is a blue collar construction worker here. That guy has now gone back to jb and I don't even know if he is really paying me the $1k. We definitely won't do a claim from our own insurance as my dad was at the steering wheel and excess would be in the thousands. Any kind advise from fellow forumers here? Any reliable workshop willing to do Malaysian insurance claim?
  23. Spotted on the facebook page 'private hire sg cars/partners - grab, gojek, ryde, tada etc', someone posted a photo of a fender bender between a BMW and a Toyota and we were shocked by how much you can claim if you were involved in such a accident. This should not cost too much to repair right? Oh wait till you see the final amount submitted by the surveyor. Yup, you saw it right. The cost of repairs on the BMW E60 5 Series would amount to a staggering $88,000. To put that into perspective, you can buy yourself a similar BMW coupled with a new 10-year COE and lots of change left for petrol and parking. Others on the post agreed too that this is one really over inflated amount. That said, there were some who thought that the is not the actual amount that was asked for... Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on who's point of view, that is the discharge voucher which you could say is going to be the actual amount paid out. Of course quite a few felt that this is wrong... Let us know what you readers think of this in the comments below! UPDATE: There are some rumors that the discharge form was meant for a Lamborghini Gallardo and not the two cars as pictured above. ----------------------------------------------- Want to know if there are any more BMW 5 Series you could buy with $88,000, check out our used car pages! -----------------------------------------------
  24. Loke: Cheaper Car Insurance Soon For Drivers Who Do Not Get Summons Read more: https://says.com/my/news/loke-cheaper-car-insurance-for-drivers-who-do-not-get-fined-in-a-year Drivers who do not break traffic laws in the country will soon enjoy a discount on annual insurance premium renewals, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke Loke said the implementation is slated to come into effect in January next year, reported Bernama. He said the Ministry is in the final stages of completing the mechanism. The rebate will require integration of information and data between multiple parties "For this effort, we need to integrate information and data by the police and Road Transport Department (RTD) on people with clean records on roads and vice versa," New Straits Times quoted Loke as saying. "We would also need support from insurance companies to create integrated data involving the RTD and police, and reward deserving people. "Once everything is ready, we hope to start early next year," he said yesterday, 8 October. Loke said the move not only aims to encourage drivers to follow the traffic laws but also helps to reduce the cost of living He said this initiative would be beneficial for the insurance companies too. "If we can reduce road accidents, insurance claims could also be reduced," Loke said. "With this new system, instead of paying out claims, they could offer more rebates on driver's no-claim bonus (NCB), on top of the 50% discount if their vehicle is accident-free." Loke said the Ministry wanted to use this reward-or-punish combination approach to reduce road accidents nationwide.
