  1. Hi All, Recently I was met with this incident, Long story short: Nissan guy side swiped me as he was going straight on a RIGHT TURN only lane. I was on his left. Evidence from front and back cam submitted to my workshop and claiming third party. Both side reported accident but according to workshop he said that the other side is refusing to admit fault and insisted that I turned into him which the video clearly says it isn't. Workshop mentioned the third party insurance persuaded the driver to admit liability but he refused so now the process is stuck. Workshop told me that if the Nissan driver refuses to admit fault there is nothing we can do. But if the other party has already reported the accident and evidence is secured shouldn't the third party insurance determined whether whose fault is it and deciding liability instead of needing the driver to admit his fault? Appreciate if anyone can advise on this because a simple side swipe like this already dragged on for 2 months. Seems pretty much a way for insurance company to drag out the case until you give up in the claiming process.
  2. Yahoo : Singapore is third best ‘global city’, others have ‘long way to go’, property expert says KUALA LUMPUR, March 15 — Malaysia’s capital and other cities behind Singapore in a “global city” ranking require significant improvement in a variety of areas before they are competitive against the city-state, world property consultancy firm Knight Frank said today. Its Asia-Pacific head researcher Nicholas Holt said aspiring competitors needed to be more transparent and encourage free market practices in order to keep up with Singapore, which ranked third in Knight Frank’s Global Cities 2016 report. “Singapore, it’s the transparency, it’s the ease of doing business, to set up a business, it comes in at the top in terms of setting up a business. “When you come into Malaysia, there’s a lot of red tape, uncertainty, thinking, ‘Is something going to happen?’ “So I think there’s quite a long way to go,” Holt said after launching Knight Frank’s Wealth 2016 report. He added that Malaysia needed to be more open to business ventures from abroad, a trait other major cities like Singapore, London and New York, have embodied and which enabled them to be successful. “So for KL to truly become an international and global city it would have to have lots of reform and it has to really capture demand from corporates and investors globally ahead from places like Singapore which would be a tough task,” Holt said. But Holt also noted that Kuala Lumpur was making various improvements to its infrastructure, such as the light rail transit (LRT) extension and the new mass rapid transit (MRT), which will get it closer to becoming a “global city”. Knight Frank later clarified that Holt was speaking on a global level and had not meant to comment specifically about Malaysia. The top two spots on Knight Frank’s Global Cities 2016 went to London and New York respectively. Hong Kong coming in fourth, followed by Dubai on fifth. Malaysia was not listed in the report which only ranks the top 10 “global cities” in the world. He added that Singapore also benefited when the former British colony returned to China as a special administrative region, creating an opening for the city-state to position itself as the preferred financial services centre in the region. "And then in 1997 Hong Kong went back to the Chinese; that was the opportunity for Singapore really to push their banking and finance and their wealth management centre outside of Hong Kong within Asia and now when people say 'Hong Kong or Singapore' they go with Singapore," he said. He added that instead of competing with Singapore, Malaysia could instead aim to complement the neighbouring country by focusing on other aspects like Islamic finance. According to the Knight Frank Global Cities website, the cities selected "explored the future of the built environment, and is intended to help investors, occupiers and city planners with their future business strategy." 3. Hi, I got into an accident last Thursday. As this was my first accident, I'm not sure what to do. Would appreciate some advise here.. What happened on Thursday was this delivery lorry in front of me suddenly stopped and reversed into my bumper, causing damage to my bumper and bonnet. I made a report already (albeit late). I went to this random workshop near my house and the cost of repair is $350. That bugger admitted that he was at fault and offered to pay $200 to settle privately, but the payment never came. He has stopped picking up my calls so I think it's safe to assume that he no longer wants to settle it privately. Making a claim against my own insurance is not worth it because my excess is $600. Now I have 2 options - either to bear the cost of repair myself or file a third-party claim against him. The workshop I went to advised the latter. He said if I decide to pursue a TP claim, I'll only have to pay $350 if I lose and if I win, I don't have to pay a single cent. The latter option sounds more appealing to me because I wish to teach that bugger a lesson, but my only concern is do I have to bear the inflated cost of repair if I lose my claim? Also, how troublesome would the TP claim become? I understand I need to appear in court and be interviewed by the lawyers, but are there other commitments? It's also rumoured that making a TP claim would increase your premium - is this true? Is there a difference in making a TP claim with a workshop authorised by NTUC Income (my insurer) and one that is not? Hope those with experience can share! Thanks.
  4. Just wondering...for those whose ride have gone through the above, have you successfully looked the claims that your workshop submitted to recover the costs back from the other party? I was told that for such claim, the workshop normally only managed to recover 80 to 90% of costs incurred. I was puzzled cos who will run a money-losing business. So, I requested from my workshop and they do not allowed me to take a look quoting it as confidential . I was like as what's so confidential since it involves my ride. Any views/advice much appreciated.

  8. Hi bros, got a question to ask if anyone experienced the same situation and how you went abt it... Yesterday went Malaysia to visit relatives for CNY. Stopped at a traffic junction when suddenly a Malaysian Truck rammed towards the line of cars waiting at the traffic junction ahead. In total there were 5 cars damaged. Malaysia Truck -> Malaysia Car -> SG Car -> SG Car -> my Car -> Malaysian car I am thinking of going for 3rd party claim against the SG car that hit my car. The car in front of my car does not want pursue and drove off cos minor damages. While my bonnet caved in, the engine is intact and radiator is leaking. Boot is caved in too. As radiator leaking I asked the tow company that approached me at scene to tow my car back SG. But the tow company said traffic at customs too heavy yesterday and today so will do it tmr. This tow company works with a SG workshop that is also an authorized workshop for a insurance company in Singapore. My car will be towed back SG to my workshop tmr, so I thought can ask some suggestions here as to whether wise to claim 3rd party against the SG car behind me. Any advice? Thanks in advanced. All of the cars involved made police report at TP yesterday. The SG car that hit me out in the police report that it hit my car. I took pictures of his and my police report.

  15. Guy, someone just ram his car onto my nissan rear bumper. So I am sending down my car to a workshop and claim third party. I am thinking of sending to TanCheong but I remember the last time, it was quite a hassle as Tan Cheong does not do third party claims. They will wait for insurance approval BEFORE starting repairs which can take quite some time... I don't think it has changed now right? If I don't want to send to Tancheong, I need to go another workshop which will do third party claims. I am with Chartis insurance so I need to send it to the following workshops within 24 hours for reporting and repair. Any recommendations? Which workshop below is the best and will proceed with my repair immediately and claim third party for me? money is not an issue as I am claiming third party. Thanks for any help. 18. A new poll shows young drivers are more likely to use cell phones while driving, and that 30 per cent of them have recently texted from behind the wheel, U.S. transportation officials said. The release of the poll came as Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood called distracted driving "a deadly epidemic." The poll comes from the magazine Consumer Reports, which is working with the U.S. Department of Transportation on creating awareness about the dangers of cell phone use while driving. Among the findings are that 63 per cent of respondents under 30-years-old reported using a handheld phone while driving in the past 30 days, the Department of Transportation said. And 30 per cent of the drivers texted from behind the wheel in the same time period according to the survey, which had a total of 1,026 respondents. Older drivers were less likely to talk on the phone behind the wheel, and only 9 per cent of those over 30 years-old reported they had recently texted while driving. LaHood, appearing at the Yonkers, New York, headquarters of Consumer Reports, said teens are more likely to drive distracted because of peer pressure. http://www.asiaone.com/Motoring/News/Story...311-267557.html

  21. Hi all, I am claiming third party. The workshop I am using ask me to select an equivalent CC car for replacement car rental and submit the bill for them to claim. I like to get some opinion from brothers here, especially those experience in claims one on: 1) my car under repair is Saab 9-3. do you think there is a limit on the absolute amount of car rental or brands I can rent? hee, hoping to try interesting models 2) in the past workshop settle car rental for me, but this time round, this workshop seems to be less experienced and ask me to source my own car rental. but if i pay the car rental, they claim under their name and it becomes their income then how? or as long as car rental invoice shows my name, insurer will have to pay to me? 3) any car rental company with more interesting brands of cars (not those that offers standard range like toyota camry etc) to recommend?
