  1. What if i get into an accident and make a claim after i have attained 50% NCD? Will i lose the 50% NCD and have to restart from 0 again next year? Just trying to understand more about NCD before i buy my first car.
  2. What if i have already achieved 50% NCD with my current insurer, do i have to forfeit this NCD if i change to a new car? In other words, can my latest NCD be retained if i switch cars or switch insurers?
  3. The driver of this Mitsubishi Lancer must be kicking himself right now. I don't like to judge the way that other people drive their vehicles, but when it comes to drivers not exhibiting the most basic fundamentals of driving, it's hard to bite my tongue. In the video, the camcar is carefully driving down the SLE expressway along Woodlands Avenue 12 due to the wet weather. Upon reaching the expressway exit, the driver slows down after he notices the white Audi station wagon doing so as well. All of a sudden, a Mitsubishi Lancer appears out of the blue from the right at an increasingly high speed. Due to the driver's lack of foresight, the car ends up skidding on the wet road and briefly clips the camcar and the white Audi. The driver tries to stay in his lane and ends up hitting the back of a black Toyota Vezel. The force of the impact results in the Vezel hitting the back of a Toyota Altis as well. All in all, 4 vehicles were damaged by the Lancer, with the camcar and the Audi only suffering a few dents. I'm not sure how experienced he is, but I'm pretty sure the Lancer driver can kiss his No Claim Discount (NCD) goodbye after this accident. What is NCD? No Claim Discount (NCD) or No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount on a driver's car insurance premium based on how long he has been driving and his existing claims record. As drivers accumulate more years of driving without making a claim, they would be entitled to a discount on the yearly premiums. Given that the driver has been insured with the same company for the past 12 months and does not have any accidents reported or made any claims under his own policy, a cumulative discount will apply whenever he renews his policy with the insurance company. An example of this would be: So if a driver has been accident-free for 5 or more years, he would be entitled to a 50% discount on his yearly premiums. That's a huge discount right there! Unfortunately, the moment a driver gets into an accident, the discount is removed and the premiums for the next year will definitely rise. What if the driver was under the influence of alcohol? If the driver is found to be under the influence by the police, the insurance company will not be paying a single cent. This would mean that all of the repair costs will be paid from the driver's own pocket, which might land him in hot water if he is unable to afford it. Netizens' reactions Yep, that's right! Also, isn't it common sense to slow down around bends? This is why we listen during our theory lessons - to avoid making idiotic mistakes like this. I think our Lancer driver might have to ransack his house to pay off his high premiums! 🤣 Moral of the story: Don't be a hero and slow down around bends! -------------- Thinking of selling your car? sgCarMart Quotz guarantees the highest selling price for your car. 4. If I drive part-time Grab during weekday evening, and I also rent it to another Grab relief driver during the weekend, do I state the NCD as 50% (mine) or 0% (Grab relief driver) when getting the car insurance? Assume that I have already converted my car to commercial with LTA.
  5. Hello all. I tried doing a search on the above topic but to no avail May I check with those folks here if they hv the answer? I currently hv a car under my name. 50% NCD etc. My wife drive another but her car is totaled and her NCD is back to 0%. If I am to get another car for her but register under my name, I understand stand that the new car will start from 0% NCD as my other car has the 50%. Will the 2nd car under my name will have the NCD increased by 10% each year if no claims? Cos the insurance under my wife name now will be more than even my 0%. Kindly advise. Thank u
  6. Anyone here bought NCD protection for their cars and what does it NOT cover ? If kanna Flash flood, can you ownself claim and show proof and still be protected?
  7. Early last month, I got into a minor accident. I was at fault. Both cars suffered some external dent, no problem to continue driving. Since it's quite minor and I am on NCD protector, I told the other driver to claim against my insurance. We both went through the usual reporting procedure. I got my car repaired in two days, change one door panel. I paid for my own repair of about 1k. I expect the repair of the other car should be the most about similar amount. The other driver sent his car back to the authorise agent. His damage was a dented front bumper and some plastic parts around the fog light area As it's my fault, I really feel sorry for causing trouble to the other driver, so I had been checking with him constantly. After more than a month, his car is still not repaired yet. He waited 2-3 weeks for the insurance to approve his claim, then waiting for parts to arrive (VW MPV), and still waiting. From my past experience few years ago of claiming against others for minor accident, the most was about a week, including insurance survey and repair. Is there change in insurance claim procedure? Anyone know why it's taking so long, or is the other driver not doing it correctly?
  8. Does anyone know what is the time frame for holding the NCD when no longer renew?
  9. Hi everybody, I need some advise! My car road Tax expires in 4th October 2015. However I am currently my insurance expires in 18th Oct 2015, and my current NCD is 40%. I was thinking of changing my car in October 2015. Is there any possibility to be to get directly 50% NCD for my new car without renewing my old car road tax and insurance? Or what is the best solution for this? Cheers everybody, for the the advise once again!
