  2. SINGAPORE - Unable to afford the services of sex workers, a man pretended to be an agent for rich "sugar daddies" and duped at least 11 women into having sex with him, so he could purportedly "test them out". When two of the victims tried to sever ties with him, the conman De Beers Wong Tian Jun threatened to disseminate their nude pictures. He also told the pair that to stop him from doing so, they had to have sex with him again. "Sugar daddy" is a term used to describe men who are willing to splurge on others, often younger people, in exchange for their company. Wong, now 39, pleaded guilty in a district court on Thursday (March 18) to 10 charges, including multiple counts of cheating. Twenty-six other charges will be considered during sentencing. In 2015, Wong looked through sex workers' advertisements online and realised that he could not afford to engage their services. The Singaporean then hatched a plan to create a post on online classifieds website Locanto, asking for paid escorts - whom he referred to as "sugar babes" - to supposedly provide sexual services to "sugar daddies" in exchange for cash. At least 11 women between 18 and 24 years old responded to his advertisement between April 2015 and January 2016. Wong lied to them, claiming that he had clients who could pay them each between $8,000 and $20,000 a month for their services. Deputy Public Prosecutors Cheng Yuxi and Tan Pei Wei stated in court documents: "He also told them that, in order to successfully secure a 'sugar daddy' arrangement with these clients, they had to send their nude photographs to the accused, have photographs taken of them in the nude, and/or engage in sexual conduct with the accused, which were filmed by the accused on some occasions. "The accused further deceived the victims that these acts were necessary so that the victims could be 'evaluated' by his clients to assess their suitability for the 'sugar daddy' arrangement." One of the victims, a 24-year-old woman, met Wong at a Hotel 81 branch on Oct 18, 2015, and he snapped her topless pictures. The pair then had unprotected sexual intercourse. The woman started having anxiety attacks following this incident. The prosecutors said: "She would sometimes cry during these attacks, and these were occasionally accompanied by shortness of breath, headaches, nausea and giddiness. In addition, she began having sleeping problems and nightmares." The Institute of Mental Health later diagnosed the woman with adjustment disorder. She begged Wong to delete her photographs on Jan 30, 2016. The conman then said that he would do so only if she agreed to "provide sexual services to him". When the woman told him that she was doing him a "favour" by not going to the police, Wong replied: "Now I have to pass your photos to my friends, in case anything happens to me, they will use the photos as they wish." Terrified, the woman lodged a police report on Feb 3, 2016. The court heard that Wong also targeted at least 10 more women. His bail was set at $20,000 on Thursday and he will be sentenced on April 20. For each count of cheating, an offender can be jailed for up to three years and fined. 4. LOS ANGELES (AFP) - A United States woman who contracted a sexually transmitted disease from her partner during romantic encounters in his car has been awarded US$5.2 million (S$7.2 million) in damages from his vehicle insurance company. The woman in the state of Missouri successfully claimed her partner had negligently infected her with human papillomavirus (HPV), and that his policy covered her for "injuries and losses". Referred to in court documents only as M.O., the woman had requested an award of US$9.9 million, before an arbitrator determined a sum of US$5.2 million would cover her "damages and injuries". "Insured should have disclosed his diagnosis to M.O. prior to the sexual activity that occurred, but he did not," found the arbitrator. GEICO, the insurer, had rejected the woman's initial settlement offer, and last year contested the award, but it was upheld by the Missouri Court of Appeals this week. HPV is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections in the US, and high-risk strains can cause cancer. There is a vaccine against it. In her initial settlement offer, the woman said she had contracted HPV during unprotected sexual encounters in her partner's vehicle in late 2017 despite him "having knowledge of his condition". The arbitrator found that her partner had "been told that his throat cancer tumour was diagnosed as HPV positive". The woman requested compensation for "past and future medical expenses", as well as "past and future mental and physical pain and suffering". Reports of the ruling quickly went viral on social media, prompting humour as well as outrage. "Crazy damages claims like this are a big part of why car insurance costs so much," tweeted Elon Musk. "It should be possible to sue law firms for pursuing insane damages claims." https://www.straitstimes.com/world/united-states/us-woman-who-contracted-std-in-car-awarded-us52m-from-vehicle-insurer I'm confused. 5. ST Scroll Back: Decent night’s sleep ‘better than sex, chats, pay rise’ - survey https://www.straitstimes.com/lifestyle/st-scroll-back-decent-nights-sleep-better-than-sex-chats-pay-rise-survey PUBLISHED 16 MAR 2018, 5:45 PM SGT As another World Sleep Day turns to night, we look at how sleep-deprived we are, and how humans didn’t sleep in one long chunk of time in the past. A survey says a healthy amount of rest is equivalent to having four times as much disposable income. PHOTO: ISTOCKPHOTO Sleeping is better than sleeping with someone. So says a survey of thousands in Britain by Oxford Economics - a decent night’s sleep “outweighs sex, chatting, going for a walk, eating with family” when it comes to measuring personal well-being, according to The Guardian. It also says a healthy amount of rest is equivalent to having four times as much disposable income. Yet, you might be labelled as being “lazy”, as if there’s shame to admitting you zzz for nine hours or more. “We have stigmatised sleep with the label of laziness. We want to seem busy, and one way we express that is by proclaiming how little sleep we’re getting. It’s a badge of honour.” - Leading neuroscientist Matthew Walker, who told The Guardian he believes that in the developed world, sleep is associated with weakness, even shame. You might have the last drowsy laugh, though, as some experts are warning diseases will be a nightmare-come-true for those who don’t get enough rest. Read on for the D grades, dreams, drama, diseases and death that are in bed with how little we sleep. Dreams of having more sleep At least half of the teens here don't get the eight to 10 hours of sleep they need. ST FILE PHOTO ILLUSTRATION Singaporeans are among those with the latest bedtime of 11.45pm, even while most of us wake up at 7.10am, says a 2016 study on sleep schedules. Grown-ups can try to do something about how we live, like putting mobile devices away, and dealing with stress, and uncomfortable room temperature. But what about schoolchildren who are sleep-deprived? Some parents said Singapore’s primary kids don’t get enough sleep, but it is a necessary trade-off. Given the competitive environment here, it is important their kids spend time on extra classes and enrichment activities, they said. As for the older students, at least half of the teenagers here don’t get the eight to 10 hours of sleep they need, with one in three getting less than 5.5 hours a night. “Insufficient and poor quality of sleep appear to be pervasive during adolescence. These can have various consequences, such as excessive daytime sleepiness, poor diet and, in turn, impairments in cognitive control, risk-taking behaviour, diminished control of attention and behaviour, as well as poor emotional control… It could have long-term impact on their health and on their grades.” - Director of Lifespan Learning and Sleep Laboratory Dagmara Dimitriou, of UCL Institute of Education. According to neuroscientist Matthew Walker, sleep deprivation was increasing our risk of cancer, heart attack and Alzheimer’s disease. In The Guardian article featuring his book, Why We Sleep, it was reported that more than 20 large-scale epidemiological studies all report the same clear relationship: The shorter your sleep, the shorter your life. Dreams and ambition All is not lost for those who don’t sleep very much as you could still fulfil dreams of becoming a leader of a huge company or country. The late former British Prime Minister Winston Churchill survived on just four hours a night during World War II. Baroness Margaret Thatcher, another late prime minister, also famously slept for only four hours, although scientists said a “Thatcher gene” is key to her needing less rest. CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk reportedly sleeps for six hours a night. PHOTO: REUTERS According to HuffPost, this is how long various successful people sleep per night: 3 hours (1am - 4am) US President Donald Trump (who said he sometimes tweets from bed.) 5 or 6 hours (12am - 5 or 6am) Founder of Virgin Group Richard Branson 6 hours (1am - 7am) Former US President Barack Obama 6 hours (1am - 7am) CEO of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk 7 hours (9.30pm - 4.30am) CEO of Apple Tim Cook 7 hours (12am - 7am) Co-founder of Microsoft Bill Gates 7 hours (10:30pm - 5:30am) Co-founder of Twitter Jack Dorsey 7 hours (10pm - 5am) Founder and CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos 8 hours (11pm - 7am) TV host Ellen DeGeneres While it seems natural to humans today to sleep in one chunk of time, our historical sleep patterns challenge that idea. For much of recorded history, humans have slept eight hours in two distinct phases, according to History.com. 4+4 hours Scholar Roger Ekirch uncovered through his exhaustive historical study of literature, art, and diaries that people would head to bed when it got dark, sleep for four hours, wake for a while, and slide into a “second sleep”. History.com reported that “it was industrialisation that solidified the single sleep as a social norm. Especially in the cities that increasingly revolved around factory production, a newly formalised workday structured daily life... “School schedules also became increasingly standardised, and as early as the 1820s, parenting books advised promptly weaning children from the two-sleep pattern.” “Many people wake up at night and panic. I tell them that what they are experiencing is a throwback to the bi-modal sleep pattern.” - Oxford professor of circadian neuroscience Russell Foster. Dreams and deep sleep Here are the stages you have to undergo before you start dreaming. According to BBC, every 60 to 100 minutes, we go through a cycle of four stages of sleep: Stage 1 A drowsy state between being awake and sleeping - breathing slows, muscles relax and heart rate drops. Stage 2 A slightly deeper sleep - you may feel awake and this means that, on many nights, you may be asleep and not know it. Stage 3 and Stage 4, or deep sleep It is hard to wake up from deep sleep because this is when there is the lowest amount of activity in your body. Dream sleep After deep sleep, we go back to stage two for a few minutes, and then enter dream sleep - also called REM (rapid eye movement) sleep - which, as the name suggests, is when you dream. In a full sleep cycle, a person goes through all the stages of sleep from one to four, then back down through stages three and two, before entering dream sleep. If you’re familiar with the familiar yet unfamiliar feel of a weird dream, you’ll find it echoed in the twists and turns of the plot. The director, whose Dunkirk won Oscars, also helmed Insomnia, in which Al Pacino played a detective in a remake of a Norwegian thriller. If you’re familiar with the irritability and exhaustion of not getting enough sleep, you’ll grumpily find it in Pacino’s performance. Dreams of sleeping like a cat If you’re more interested in the sleeping habits of furry cats than of fat cats, CEOs and politicians, here are animals that get a lot more or a lot less zzz per day than you do: Sleep with half a brain at a time (each half gets 4 hours of sleep) Dolphins can stay alert for 15 days or more this way 30 minutes Giraffes 2 hours Wild elephants 12 to 16 hours Cats 15+ hours Sloths in captivity 18 hours Tigers An indoor cat tends to sleep more than one that roams outdoors. (Photo by Akira Kodaka) DYLAN LOH, Nikkei staff writer, August 5, 2020 14:59 JST SINGAPORE -- Since the coronavirus pandemic started, Danna, a transgender "social escort" in Manila, has been afraid to meet strangers. As a companion for hire, Danna's work would involve intimate acts with customers. Strict measures to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the Philippines and elsewhere in Asia have made jobs that entail close contact difficult at best. For workers like Danna, this has been both a curse and a blessing, robbing them of their livelihoods but also reducing their infection risks. "Part of me is desperate to get back to work so I can earn money and help my family during this time, while another part of me is nervous to meet people while there's still a danger I can get sick, and then make my family sick," Danna was quoted as saying in a blog post on Smooci, a U.K.-based escort booking platform that operates across Asia -- Bangkok, Singapore, Manila, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Hong Kong, Macao and Tokyo. The handful of stories shared on the site offer a window on how the pandemic is threatening some of Asia's most vulnerable people. Although the legalities of the trade vary from place to place, the industry typically operates on the fringes of society, with support groups warning that many workers have no access to government safety nets. Even as some economies reopen in fits and starts, international tourism in the region remains practically nonexistent and social distancing measures are in place, significantly limiting workers' options. A screen grab from Smooci, a platform for escorts, shows some who have spoken about difficulties encountered due to the COVID-19 pandemic. (Courtesy of Smooci) In Thailand, an escort named Tan spoke of financial stress and isolation. "I stayed in Bangkok as I needed to work. But I have not had many clients. Now I'm not able to earn money, and also not able to travel and be with my family," she said on Smooci. Smooci's chief executive, Kal Kingsley, told the Nikkei Asian Review that his service and Asia's sex trade in general almost came to a halt after the pandemic hit, leaving escorts anxious and desperate. "We have continued to see some companions sign up, and around 50% to 80% are still making themselves available for work, but in reality the clients and bookings are not there," he said. He said the platform -- described in some media reports as "Uber for escorts" -- saw total shutdowns in Manila, Singapore, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur in April and May, amid strict government measures to curb virus transmissions. Activity in Bangkok dropped to about 10% of normal. Pressed for income, some in the business have turned to online alternatives, such as charging for private photos and videos or offering livestreamed shows. But Kingsley said these are not perfect substitutes, adding that "web camming" is "highly competitive" and had been on the decline. "It's also important to note that camming services pay far less, and many escorts, especially in Southeast Asia, are financially responsible for entire families," he said. These services also require different skills, working hours, equipment and private spaces. Business disruptions in Asia's red light districts, like this one in Bangkok, have pushed some sex workers online, where they encounter very different challenges. (Photo by Akira Kodaka) Scammers only complicate the work of those who genuinely ply the trade for a living. Some set up fake online profiles to lure customers -- a practice known as "bait and switch" that Kingsley suggested was particularly common in Singapore. Some fraudsters ask unsuspecting customers to transfer funds in exchange for sexual favors, only to disappear once the money has changed hands. Police in the city-state reported nearly 240 "credit for sex" scams in the first three months of 2020, up about 40% from the same period of 2019. The problem did not go away despite the coronavirus restrictions imposed in April: At least 20 men reported being victims of such scams that month, losing a total of around 50,000 Singapore dollars ($36,000). Meanwhile, spots in the city-state where sex workers congregate remain quieter than usual. Orchard Towers, a shopping mall known for its clutch of rowdy pubs and massage parlors in Singapore's prime retail district, was all but deserted during the economic shutdown that lasted until June. The impact is still being felt. "Most of the girls are Filipinas and [from] some other countries, so after lockdown they don't have any money," Hameed Sulthan, owner of a convenience store at Orchard Towers, told Nikkei. "I hear most of the girls go back to their home country," he said. Famed for its rowdy pubs and massage parlors, Orchard Towers' entertainment joints were shuttered when Singapore restricted economic activity until June. (Photo by Dylan Loh) On Monday night, a handful of Orchard Towers' massage joints were open, along with a few pubs, but many establishments were still shuttered. Although a few workers beckoned passersby, the scene was far from business as usual. Project X, a nonprofit group in Singapore that supports sex workers, told Nikkei that the temporary shutdown of entertainment facilities -- including licensed brothels -- left many people with no source of income. And since many were migrant workers who did not have official documentation and could not reveal the nature of their jobs for fear of legal repercussions, they were ineligible for the government's coronavirus aid, according to Vanessa Ho, Project X's executive director. Running on donations, the organization started a program at the end of April to help sex workers with their rent, daily meals and medical costs. It has given grocery vouchers to more than 130, while also lending an ear to their troubles. "Many sex workers do what they do to survive -- to support their children, their parents and themselves," Ho said. "Due to the fact that most of their earnings go toward supporting their dependents, very few have any sort of savings, leaving them in a very vulnerable situation."

  9. The Minister has spoken - you don't need that much space! No explicit details or OT tiko directions please. This is about population, housing and nation building. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/ministers-rejoinder-to-no-flat-no-child-belief You do not need much space to have sex. That was the feisty rejoinder from Senior Minister of State Josephine Teo, who oversees the National Population and Talent Division, to a question on whether young people are not getting their flats early enough to have children. The suggestion was that this could be a chicken-and-egg problem. To qualify for the Parenthood Priority Scheme, which gives first- time married couples first dibs on getting a flat, they must be expecting or have a citizen child below 16. But to have a child, some say they need to have a flat first. With a straight face, Mrs Teo declared: "You need a very small space to have sex." ST_20161012_YOUNG12LYB9_2661297.jpg Related Story Build support networks for young parents: Josephine Teo st_20161012_young12y6zi_2661401.jpg Related Story Striving to balance work, life and raising kids millennials2.jpg Related Story Millennials are ‘gung-ho’: Josephine Teo Known for her candid blog posts on dating and marriage, Mrs Teo does not mince her words - think "menstruation" and "cysts" - when it comes to urging young people to look for love and settle down early. In an interview on marriage and parenthood issues last week, the mother of three teenage children tackled issues ranging from infertility to why the Government should not be "too kaypoh" (Hokkien for busybody). She noted that the Singaporean love story has a different arc from that of countries in the West. "In our case, man meets woman, man falls in love with woman, man proposes to woman, they then plan the wedding and do the house," she said. "In France, in the UK, in the Nordic countries, man meets woman, tonight they can make a baby already. They love each other. Both of them partly have their own family, so it is a matter of living in yours or living in mine, and they also don't have to worry about marriage - that comes later," she added. So how about having a couple declare that they wish to have a child in two years and get the flat first? Measures being considered to coax couples to marry and have babies Housing •Reduce the wait for Build-To-Order Housing Board flats Childcare •Increase childcare spaces to two for every three children •Look for suitable spaces in buildings, such as underutilised carparks, that can be converted into childcare centres •Attract childcare teachers through better pay and career planning, and elevate their social status to that of school teachers Caring for babies at home •Match local nannies to those who need them •Train maids to look after babies At the workplace •Get employers to offer flexible work arrangements and promote work-life balance, with the Government taking the lead as an employer "What if they can't conceive? Take back the flat from them? How do you know they really tried to conceive? Can we check whether they use contraceptives? Cannot, right?" she replied, amused. Instead of having the Government poke its nose into the bedroom, Mrs Teo relied instead on persuasion. She urged women to have babies early as they would not know if they are fertile or not. "You never really know that you're not fertile until you try. Unfortunately, it is one of those things. There is no fertility indicator. As a woman you will know, if you have regular menstruation, okay, (there is a) likelihood. But maybe you have a major cyst and how would you know until you attempt to conceive, only to realise that you can't?" The search for love is also not something to be left to chance, she said. "When I meet young people and ask if they go and look for upgrading opportunities, they said 'yes'. I said, 'What about love? Do you go and look for love?' They said 'no'. I said, 'Why not?' They said, 'If it happens, it happens'.

The woman’s mother-in-law allegedly forced her to have sex with male strangers after they found out that her husband was infertile in 2010, Hubei Television reported. The woman refused and left Hubei for the country’s south to escape the arrangement. Her father-in-law, who also opposed the arrangement of his wife, came to her workplace in Guangdong province to take her home with a promise that she would not be forced to sleep with strangers any more. However, at a hostel near a train station the old man raped her and made her pregnant, the woman said. But the father-in-law said he was seduced by the woman who told him that she was willing to bring a grandson to the family. They had sex repeatedly in the following years, the father-in-law said. The family members decided to go to the court to settle the dispute.

MOTHER OF 5 PLAYED NAKED TWISTER WITH TEEN DAUGHTER IN DRUNKEN PARTY Post date: 16 Apr 2015 - 10:31am A mother-of-five threw her teenage daughter a party, played naked Twister with her friends and then had sex with an 18-year-old in the bathroom, authorities have said. Rachel Lynn Lehnardt, 35, from Evans, Georgia, was arrested on Saturday night and has been charged with two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The details of the drunken party emerged when Lehnardt met with her Alcoholics Anonymous sponsor last Friday and told her about the wild party. The sponsor then contacted authorities. She told the woman that her children, who are aged between four and 16, were with their father when her oldest daughter texted her to ask if she could bring over some friends. Lehnardt allegedly responded: 'Come on, let's party', WJBF reported. When the teenagers arrived, she allegedly allowed them to drink alcohol and smoke marijuana in her home, before she played naked Twister with them in the living room. While the youngsters continued playing, she allegedly went into a bathroom and had sex with an 18-year-old man, the sponsor told authorities. When she returned, she brought out sex toys and started to use them on herself in front of the teenagers, she told her sponsor, Augusta Crime reported. She later went to bed alone and around 3.30am, she awoke to find someone having sex with her, she told her sponsor. 'She stated at first she thought it was the 18-year-old from earlier, but then realized it was the 16-year-old who was in fact her daughter's boyfriend,' Lehnardt's sponsor told deputies.

Peking University professor sacked for having intimate relationship with student believed to be from S'pore http://singaporeseen.stomp.com.sg/singaporeseen/this-urban-jungle/peking-university-professor-sacked-for-having-intimate-relationship-with-student A professor at Peking University in Beijing has been removed from his position and had his teaching license revoked after having an affair with an international student and getting her pregnant. According to Shangiist, a university graduate reported Yu Wanli, formerly an associate professor at the School of International Studies of Peking University, to the school's inspection department in November. The informant, named Liu Wei, was a friend of the student, Wang Jing, who is believed to be from Singapore. Wang became an undergraduate at the School of International Studies in 2004 and started her doctoral program in 2013. She met Yu during a course on US diplomatic studies in 2013, reports People Daily Online. Liu sent an e-mail and three letters to the university with photos and chat records from Wang's phone, Shanghai Daily reports, citing The Beijing News. Wang later told reporters that Yu forced himself upon her in July 2013 when he came by her dorm, and the two maintained a sexual relationship ever since. "I was resisting him constantly during the whole process," Wang said during a previous media interview, adding that she and Yu had since maintained a lasting sexual relationship. Wang discovered that Yu was married and had a child when she went to visit his home, but he insisted that he and his wife were separated. "I told him that I won't be anyone's mistress because it is not fair to me. He said he needed time to work things out," Wang told Huashang Daily.

  19. Some couples like to make out in their vehicle. That is perfectly fine if the vehicle is not on the move. However, it may turn out to be a dangerous act if the man is driving at the same time. This is the case involving a Mexican man named Luis Briones who faces multiple charges as he found drink driving and having sex at the same time. The female passenger was ejected from the Ford Explorer after the accident. She suffered deep cuts on her face and head, and was found naked outside the SUV. The 25-year old Briones tried to drive away from the scene of the accident, leave his passenger behind but a witness pulled the keys away from the ignition. He was later apprehended behind a cactus with only one shoe on and his shorts inside-out. So, no matter how hot your lady passenger is, concentrate on the task at hands. Other things can wait.
