TOKYO (REUTERS) - Nissan's board ousted chairman Carlos Ghosn on Thursday (Nov 22) after the shock arrest of the industry heavyweight, Japanese broadcaster NHK reported without citing sources, ushering in a period of uncertainty for its 19-year alliance with Renault. A Nissan Motor Co spokesman declined to comment. According to Shangiist, a university graduate reported Yu Wanli, formerly an associate professor at the School of International Studies of Peking University, to the school's inspection department in November. The informant, named Liu Wei, was a friend of the student, Wang Jing, who is believed to be from Singapore. Wang became an undergraduate at the School of International Studies in 2004 and started her doctoral program in 2013. She met Yu during a course on US diplomatic studies in 2013, reports People Daily Online. Liu sent an e-mail and three letters to the university with photos and chat records from Wang's phone, Shanghai Daily reports, citing The Beijing News. Wang later told reporters that Yu forced himself upon her in July 2013 when he came by her dorm, and the two maintained a sexual relationship ever since. "I was resisting him constantly during the whole process," Wang said during a previous media interview, adding that she and Yu had since maintained a lasting sexual relationship. Wang discovered that Yu was married and had a child when she went to visit his home, but he insisted that he and his wife were separated. "I told him that I won't be anyone's mistress because it is not fair to me. He said he needed time to work things out," Wang told Huashang Daily.

LONDON: Roberto Mancini was sacked as manager of Manchester City on Monday-- a year to the day after leading the club to the English Premier League title. City's shock FA Cup Final defeat by Wigan at Wembley on Saturday meant they ended this season without any silverware and strengthened rumours Mancini, who replaced Mark Hughes in 2009, was about to be dismissed. The club's Abu Dhabi-based owners confirmed Monday the end of the Italian manager's three-and-a-half years at Eastlands, with a City statement saying: "It is with regret that Manchester City Football Club announces that Roberto Mancini has been relieved of his duties as Manchester City manager. "This has been a difficult decision for the owner, chairman and board to make and it is the outcome of a planned end-of-season review process that has been brought forward in light of recent speculation and out of respect for Roberto and his extensive contributions to the football club. "Despite everyone's best efforts, the club has failed to achieve any of its stated targets this year, with the exception of qualification for next season's UEFA Champions League." "This, combined with an identified need to develop a holistic approach to all aspects of football at the club, has meant that the decision has been taken to find a new manager for the 2013-14 season and beyond." City's Champions League qualification has been overshadowed by the uninspiring nature of their title defence, with the club a distant second to already crowned English champions Manchester United and 13 points adrift of their local rivals. The 48-year-old Mancini's time at City saw the club win a first major trophy in 35 years with the 2011 FA Cup, while last season's Premier League title was their first top-flight crown since 1968 and saw the manager rewarded with a new five-year deal. Superintendent of detention centre sacked over Mas Selamat's escape By Channel NewsAsia | Posted: 26 May 2008 1437 hrs SINGAPORE: The superintendent of the Whitley Road Detention Centre has been sacked over security lapses that led to the escape of Jemaah Islamiyah detainee Mas Selamat Kastari. His deputy has also been demoted in rank, with a corresponding pay cut. The two were the most senior officers in charge of the ground management of the detention centre, and were among six Internal Security Department (ISD) officers charged over the escape. Two other Gurkha officers were also charged and have been demoted after pleading guilty. Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng disclosed the moves when he updated Parliament on the disciplinary action taken after Mas Selamat's escape. Mas Selamat had escaped from a ventilation window in a toilet at the detention centre on February 27 and remains at large. No grilles were mounted on the window. Mr Wong said the superintendent should have instructed the renovation contractor to install grilles on the ventilation window. Instead, the superintendent asked for the handle of the window to be sawn off in the mistaken belief that it was a sufficient security measure. This, Mr Wong said, was a serious error. The superintendent and his deputy have also been held accountable for the lack of supervision over the subordinate officers implicated in the escape. Mr Wong said the ISD's command director, whom the superintendent reported to, has also been relieved of his duties on April 24. Although the command director was neither directly nor indirectly linked to the lapses of specific officers down the line, and he was not at fault over the lapses, Mr Wong said he was formally the apex of the supervisory and management chain of command overseeing the detention centre. - CNA/ac So higher management on top of ISD's command director should be sack as well right....but why are those ppl still sitting in the parliament? -
