  1. Breaking News: http://sg.sports.yahoo.com/news/chelsea-sa...46564--sow.html So it looks like possible replacements are Rafael Benitez (who has been out of a job for more than a year), Pep Guardiola (on a sabbatical), or Harry Redknapp. Who does it look likely to be the next manager?
  2. stick to the other thread.
  3. Who will proceed...... Shout here I start ............... Barca 4 Zero !!!!
  4. Chelsea is so desperate now that they even consider Rafa who messed up Liverpool and Inter Milan? Chelsea's managers since Mourinho: 2004 - 2007: Jose "Special One" Mourinho Won 2 titles and 4 cups but left "on mutual consents" (rumours on disagreement with Roman Abramovich) 2007 - 2008: Avram Grant tio pok after one season 2008 - 2009: Luiz Scolari World Cup winner but tio pok after only half a season 2009: Guus Hiddink Highly rated, win FA Cup, popular among players but only interested in managing Chelsea for half a season 2009 - 2011: Carlo Ancelotti tio pok after 2 seasons, winning a title and 2 cups... also signed Torres for British record of 50m 2011 - present: Andres Villa Boas Young and highly rated, dubbed as the next Mourinho, but seems to lose support of senior players and Roman Abramovich... 5. Every since Chelsea boss sacked Ray Wilkins, they are on the sliding ............... So will their manager be next to go ? ESPN latest : - Ancelotti: I won't quit Chelsea Carlo Ancelotti has put his future in the hands of Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, insisting he will never quit the club. Italian manager Ancelotti is under more pressure than ever at Stamford Bridge following Saturday's shock FA Cup defeat to Everton. It left Chelsea's season in real danger of unravelling completely, with the Premier League title all but surrendered and Champions League qualification hanging in the balance. Their only remaining hope of silverware is also the latter competition, which they resume on Tuesday night when they visit FC Copenhagen in the last 16. Defeat in that tie would surely test billionaire owner Abramovich's patience to what could be breaking point. But even if the unthinkable were to happen, manager Ancelotti will not jump before he is pushed. Asked if he would ever consider resigning, Ancelotti said: "No, not me. I don't have to consider my position. It is the owner that has to consider my position, not myself.'' Ancelotti enjoyed the backing of Abramovich at the end of 2010 after overseeing the club's worst run in the league for almost 15 years. A mini-revival followed but the past fortnight has witnessed another calamitous run of results. Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked two years ago when Abramovich began to fear Champions League qualification would not be achieved and Chelsea are in an even worse position now, lying fifth in the Premier League.

  8. The Court of Arbitration for Sport has granted Chelsea's request to suspend their transfer ban pending a final decision. Gael Kakuta: Chelsea were banned for two transfer windows over his signing. Chelsea were initially handed a ban over the next two transfer windows for their part in the signing of French teenager Gael Kakuta from Lens in 2007, but now the appeals body have given the London club a lifeline which will allow them to sign players again in January if the decision is not taken before then. A statement on the CAS website read: ''The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has granted the request for a stay filed by Chelsea Football Club Ltd and Mr Ga
  9. Premier League: Chelsea v Man United preview 2009-11-08 - Added by ExtraFootie Chelsea and Manchester United meet in Sunday
  10. Chelsea have staged their own cabinet reshuffle - clearing the way for Roman Abramovich to take a more hands-on role at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea have appointed Ron Gourlay as the departing Peter Kenyon
  11. Carlo Ancelotti has vowed to fulfil Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's desire for Champions League success after the Italian was appointed as Blues manager on Monday. Less than 24 hours after stepping down as AC Milan coach, Ancelotti signed a three-year contract with the Premier League club, worth an estimated 6.5 million pounds a year (7.4 million euros). The Italian, who succeeds Guus Hiddink at Stamford Bridge, was targeted by Chelsea owner Abramovich because of his impressive track record in Europe's elite club competition. Ancelotti led Milan to Champions League victory in 2003 against Juventus and 2007 against Liverpool, as well as reaching the 2005 final, where his team were beaten by Liverpool. As if that wasn't enough to get Abramovich's attention, Ancelotti also won the European Cup twice with Milan during his playing days. Since Abramovich purchased Chelsea in 2003, he has seen his team come agonisingly close to European glory. In the 2008 final, when penalty shoot-out misses from John Terry and Nicolas Anelka gifted Manchester United the trophy, while the Blues have also lost four semi-finals against Monaco, Liverpool twice and, most painfully, Barcelona this season. Ancelotti, who will start work on July 1, knows the pressure will be on him to reproduce his European success at the Bridge. "There will be the same pressure at Chelsea because Chelsea and Milan are great teams in Europe and they want to win all the competitions so I think there will be the same pressure," he told Chelsea TV. "For me the Champions League is a beautiful sensation. When I was a player I won the tournament two times, in 1989 and 1990. "It was a fantastic moment and the same when I was a coach with Milan in 2003 and 2007. The Champions League for me is the best competition in the world and everyone wants to win it. "Chelsea have a great record, five semi-finals in six years is a beautiful score but now we have to win it. "There will be the same pressure at Chelsea because Chelsea and Milan are great teams in Europe and they want to win all the competitions so I think there will be the same pressure." Ancelotti, who has also coached Juventus and Parma, will be managing outside Italy for the first time. But the former Italy midfielder insists he will have no problem adapting to life in the Premier League because he is already a big fan of the English game. The 49-year-old also spoke to Andriy Shevchenko, the Chelsea striker who has been on loan at Milan this season, to find out more about the club. "I see the matches always on television. I like the Premier League because there are great teams who play good football. It is very speedy. I like English football," he said. "In Italy, now and before, the matches are more tactical, the team thinks to defend well and only after to attack. "I watch Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United and I know English football very well. Chelsea have a great team, great players and a strong team. I'd like to stay here." After spluttering under Luiz Felipe Scolari earlier this season, Chelsea were revitalised by Hiddink, losing just one of 22 matches under the Dutchman and winning the FA Cup. It was Hiddink's astute man-management style that most impressed Chelsea's star-filled dressing room. Players like club captain John Terry and Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba bought into Hiddink's philosophy and Ancelotti is determined to create a similiar atmosphere.

  16. Was reading ESPN Soccernet news and found this report : Hiddink jets in and declares: Chelsea can win title New Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink flew into London to watch his first training session on Thursday and declared that the Premier League club could still win the title. The Dutchman, who succeeds ousted Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari and will take control of the Blues until the end of the season, accompanied chairman Bruce Buck out on to the Cobham training ground to watch the main session, led by assistant coach Ray Wilkins. After meeting with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and director Eugene Tenenbaum Hiddink gave his first interview as Blues boss and intimated that the fourth placed club could catch league leaders Manchester United. "They are in several races, the FA Cup is there, the Champions League and also the league," the 62-year-old told Chelsea TV. "There is a 10-point difference but if you look in the past of this league and other leagues as well, some things can happen during the final stages of the championship. "All the three roads are very important. The next game against Watford, and then Aston Villa and Juventus, and then you go on the path of the Champions League, and that is so attractive. The club has the experience to go to the final. "I have to live, as soon as possible, in the depth of the club, but I just recently talked to the players for a few minutes in the dressing room this afternoon. "I am not just here to add to my experience with the club and Premier League, but also I want to see these results as soon as possible. "The players are very committed, I have seen the training session, but sometimes you can have a little bit different approach to get even more efficiency out of the players. Hmmmmm............ new broom sweep clean or just to please the boss (RA) ......... Wonder how he going to stimulate the team when he has to jet about in 2 places .........
  17. Luiz Felipe Scolari has been sacked by Chelsea on Monday, following by club's statement..... well, really suprise to see him get sacked only 7 months in-charge and now we shall see who is the next top flight manager taking over.....Avram Grant again ?

  20. Chelsea manage to scrap through to the last 16 with a 2 - 1 win over CFR Cluj-Napoca with the help from Didier Drogba.......... Elsewhere, Liverpool manage to beat PSV Eindhoven with a much weaken side and three youngsters. RB rest SG, Xabi Alonso and Jose Reina with Stephen Darby, Jay Spearing and Martin Kelly all getting their first taste of Champions league football. ........ ESPN Soccernet report : Chelsea 2 - 1 CFR Cluj-Napoca Didier Drogba climbed off the substitute's bench to send Chelsea into the knockout stages of the Champions League with a 2-1 victory over CFR Cluj. The Ivory Coast international, a 65th minute substitute for opening scorer Salomon Kalou, poked the ball under CFR Cluj goalkeeper Nuno Claro for the winner just six minutes later. But Drogba's efforts were not enough for Chelsea to finish top of Group A after Roma defeated Bordeaux. Chelsea have only themselves to blame for finishing second. They squandered two chances to top the group during a European campaign that has eventually seen them stutter across the first-stage finishing line. Luiz Felipe Scolari insists he feels `zero pressure' as coach of Chelsea but his animated behaviour on the touchline in the early moments of the game suggested otherwise. PSV Eindhoven 1 - 3 Liverpool Liverpool had to come from behind against PSV Eindhoven to clinch top place in Group D, but in the end this Champions League victory was achieved at a canter at the Philips Stadion. Boss Rafael Benitez rested Steven Gerrard and sent out a much-changed side against the Dutch champions. Rafael Benitez hailed Liverpool's young brigade as they produced a compelling victory that made the Spaniard a record breaker. A comfortable 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven in the final Champions League Group D match means Benitez has now won 40 games in Europe as Liverpool manager, surpassing Bob Paisley's previous mark of 39. .............................
