I'm sorry, you are absolutely wrong. The Official Traffic Police Basic Theory of Driving 7th Edition Official Handbook states on page 34:

 

"Merging Arrow Markings:

 

Merging arrows are drawn on the road to give motorists advance warning that two traffic lanes are merging into one traffic lane. Alternate vehicles from the two lanes have the the right-of-way into the single lane."

 

Note: it is definitely NOT "the right side of the merge has the right of way".

 

Alternate vehicle means whichever vehicle slightly in front has the right of way or the faster vehicle has the right of way?

Its the vehicle that is slightly ahead, not faster or slower...

But usually faster vehicle will overtake and become ahead... So meaning slower vehicle or initally ahead vehicle (now become behind - usually the case) have to give way now?

 

What I trying to illustrate is that in Theory, ahead vehicle has the right of way. In pratical, slower vehicle has to lookout and give way...

 

Not trying to be funny, but in my years of driving, it has always been the faster vehicle has the right of way... Not once will a vehicle NOT overtake me in merging lane if I am slower.

theoritically, when coming to merging lane, the vehicle at the back should slow down and watch out for the car infront, and just Q 1 car behind another. Of course if the "faster" car behind decides to try overtake and no accident caused, then peace. But if the car infront decides to turn out suddenly and accident happens, most likely the car that's behind will take more blame right?

TS never say when he overtakes, how much of the merging lane is left.. some merging lane can be very long, and if there is enuf space and the vehicle is slow, i may overtake too.

 

But if merging lane already exhausting, and he die die overtake by squeezing in (which seems to be the case when van gotta jam brakes), TS should go bang himself.
