Sorry... I've not used Holux, so cannot comment.

But my basic Garmin model is serving me well. From local, to 80% of Malaysia and even upto Thailand Koh Samui.

There's lots of resellers for Garmin which one can get cheaper then from the shops. (of course there's risk when there any issues)

Dunno about Holux.... but "Garmin's" map support is good for me. (Ahem)

A number of us using Holux 53, 55 from above link, or I am still holding it..

Din really use much in Singapore or JB.. But everytime I start it, it is still working.. And it had been sitting in my car for 1 year 8 months under sun or rain.. So I could said it is durable and considered reliable..

You cannot input coordinate to search on the older Holux, but not sure of this newer one..

Holux give you mapking SLA and malsing maps

Mapking/SLA - Good in singapore

Malsing - Good in Malaysia

There are times when it tried to play trick on me though.. Like taking longgggggg time to get a GPS fix.. and most of the time, I got a signal within 30 sec..

Garmin is the way to go.

You can use it to search for almost any address in Singapore.

I have brought it around SE Asia and the US and it works.

At first you wanted to buy a Holux.

Now you have changed your mind.

You should do some research instead of asking vague questions for which the answer is quite dependant on personal opinions. Like which chicken rice is good.

If you are still afraid of making the wrong choice, you can RENT:
