Windchoco 1st Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 This is probably the only time when purchaser of Korean cars get to enjoy first mover advantage in terms of excellent value for money car. By the time the Korean cars are widely accepted to be capable competition to J cars with the likes of Toyotas etc, it will no longer be priced the way it is today. So enjoy and take good advantage of this phase while it lasts. not necessary... cos the perception is hard to change, change also won't be so fast... Price gap may close up, but Hyundai and Toyota selling at same price is still v v long time away.... ↡ Advertisement

And when it is almost same price as Jap cars 1-2 years back, their sales drop like crazy. Now it is popular as it is cheaper than Jap. And yes, the car looks nicer too. I like Cerato

Alfc 5th Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 It is anybody's guess when the turning point will happen. But at this point, it is still a lot more car for the same money.
Windchoco 1st Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 There is also another turning point... When H price will overtake contis like VW... lol
Alfc 5th Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 Actually for consumer like myself, I would have wished the price gap never close up and the perception stays this way. So I can continue to pay more for car than for perception/branding. But of cos, this is not sustainable.
GoodCar 4th Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 even with the same price, between forte and altis, i still choose altis. altis interior more firm/ steady look forte interior just look like children cooking toy. altis body/ exterior suitable for 40s person (early old generation) forte body/ exterior look like new comer sport car, very fantastic design, race curve !!!!, more bold then evo look If you buy the korean, the money you save can buy you alot of petrol ..... Paying so much for a build in Thai car.
GoodCar 4th Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 Can you tell me no major faults will happen to the avante or forte 5-7 yrs down the road ? singaporeans go to toyota cause they are established in both after sales service and reliability. Are you sure there will be no major fault to toyota and honda car after 5-7 year down the road?

That is the problem with Singaporean, social class divide and blind from reality. No wonder old man so old already still need to speak his mind. HengHeng88 Neutral Newbie August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 (edited) in everyone's example .. no one actually kept their korean cars for more than 7yrs i wonder why .. LOL .. 4 yrs nia change act like u tell me know how reliable .. can drive for 10 yrs no prob then say lah .. LOL .. i agree to the point that u can still see 92 or 93 honda and toyotas .. where the 92 korean cars ... Actually the best gauge of quality would be taxi drivers , their mileage is the best gauge of quality .. most the taxi driver i know of .. say sonata quality not as good as toyota crown .. LOL .. don't believe go ask around .. LOL .. just think their mileage of 2 yrs would equate to a normal person's ten yrs... just ask them how many sonatas has broken down liaoz as compared to new 2 yrs crowns.. Well my dad owns several generations of corollas .. everyone drove all the way to tai chia ... 10 yrs and eventually sold all of his cars for a good price .. LOL .. all good to go .. even after ten .. but i can't really say the same for korean cars .. which people usually offload them after 4 .. LOL Edited August 20, 2009 by HengHeng88

Anyway.. u chose Axio instead of your dad's Altis... I think thats enuff said right? (despite your earlier post about china ipods) I guess in your mind, MIT is still different from MIJ... Make no mistake, my opinion is simply that MIK is more value for money.. I never said anything about it being so much better in every way possible. So pls stop defending your dual Toyota purchase... hahaha
Altivo 3rd Gear August 20, 2009 Share August 20, 2009 how about this? Jap car ex - so your dad took a huge loan, then realised can't break even by the 4th year... so LL gotta drive till at least 7 years or even 10 years Korean car cheap - after down payment, reach break even by end of 2nd year... after driving around, change to a newer model does that answer your question why change car every 4th year? come on, if the car is that crap, do you think we would buy hyundai after hyundai. No doubt the earlier batch of ponys and stellars is indeed crap... the new models have indeed come a long way ↡ Advertisement
