hi seniors,

has anyone ever encountered this scenario?

=of late my car has a whirling and ringing sound coming from where the belts are. (AE101)

is it a loose bearing?

its gotten louder this week though..

More lokely to be a worn bearing than a loose bearing. Try switching off the aircon and on again to see if the sound disappears. If it goes off when the aircon is off, possibly aircon compressor bearings are gone. Had the same problem with my AE101. Drove with it for a while then decided to change for a recon compressor. If the sound persists regardless of whether aircon is on, then may be alternator bearings. An old trick I was taught is to use a screwdriver as a kind of stethoscope to find out where the sound is coming from. PM me if you want to know how.

Guys, need your help. MyAE101 just sputtered to ahalt and I can't get it started again. Engine turns over well but engine just can't ignite. Anyone had such an experience before? It stalled whilethe car was accelerating. My suspicion is fuel pump gone and so no fuel reaching injectors. Anyone have other suggestions before I bring it to the mech tomorrow?

Its either your aircon belt or water pump. Are they new belts? If they're not, go get it changed and adjust the gears to tighten them up. [drivingcar]

Wow! Sounds familiar.... happened to my AT190 as well... hmm.... I cant remember what was the cause though...

I think it was the aircon.... or belt problem! Something in that line, go check if all belts are there.... then again, either way, you still need to send it to the garage bro....

Distributor spoilt. Apparently, that is one of the few common problems of the 4A-FE engine. The mechanic was so sure it was the distributor, he didn't even need to go see the car.He ordered the distributor, drove over to the car, fitted it, and voila!! He said, 9 times out of 10 on a 4A-FE, it's the distributor.
