Nullifi3d 4th Gear December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 Heres actually what happened during the intial development stages - Audi A8 designer picks up his phone and makes a call : A8 Designer: "Hi, could you put me through to the guys over at the A4 department?" Operator: "Hang on, i'll put you through" After 1 minute of waiting A4 Designer: "Hi can i help you?" A8 Designer: "Yeah... the Big Boss wants us to design a new A8. Need some help." A4 Designer: "What? Again..?" A8 Designer: "Come on, its for the last time. I promise" A4 Designer: "You said that the previous time, and look at the current A8. Still looks like an upsized A4 you daft fool." A8 Designer: "Don't worry we'll make lots of changes; it won't look like your A4. I Swear!" A4 Designer: "Ok... i'll send you the blueprint now..." End of story.
Extramint Clutched December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 i think the side profile looks really dated, bear and been-there-done-that-kinda feeling.
Davc Neutral Newbie December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 This kind of car is for CEO of a big company, who makes decisions carefully without mistake. A lot of time, boring. So their cars are like them. They are company car. Anyway if you like a little more character, go for the RS8. Or other choices like BMW 760/Merc S63 AMG. Most importantly, they are innovative at designs. Japanese and Korean are just too far behind in this respect.
Hermitage 1st Gear December 2, 2009 Share December 2, 2009 Fugly it may be...but it's still an A8!! Look look at the interior fit & finish, peerless in it's class! The rear LEDs look uber cool as well! Vorsprung something something!!

Dunno Neutral Newbie December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 Boring interior Storm trooper has new looks exterior still a front wheel drive no match for 5 year old S class and already boring F01 7 series. new XJ beats this obese Audi hands down. Tehhh...wrong answer. It's quattro, not FWD. Comes in the 4.2L quattro with 376hp. Drag co-efficient is 0.26. Swee...executive flagship. http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publish/Aud...icle_5478.shtml

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 Why does the 2010 A8 still look like an enlarged A4?? Whoever thought the A4 was a stunning looking car?? The current A8 was plague by a lifeless steering and lack of fun to drive...while the interior though well assembled, was still mainly made of plastics, whereas rivals such as S-Class and Lexus LS600hL had a full leather interior... the current A8 had a rubbish interior, as with all other Audis...to Audi...people who are looking for upmarket Conti cars don't want plastic in their car, but LEATHER!! it's fortunate that they have listened, at least for the new A8...however, i still don't like their 'Only 4-seater' set-up...to adjust the rear seats, you'd have to fold down the middle armrest, just like BMW 7-series, Lexus LS... however, in the Merc, the seat controls are on the side of the doors...meaning 3 or more can seat in the rear comfortably... that said though, the thing that still plagues these cars are the lack of twin rear seat legrest...i tried reclining the seats in the rear of the S-Class and 7-series and all the rear legroom is lost when i choose to sleep in the rear of the car... however, the case would be different for the Hyundai Equus LWB...that's a proper, true lux car i tell you!! Rm2s 5th Gear December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 IMO, not hard to design another Audi car. You can call it A-whatever, it is quite simple. Take any of the current Audi, do a bit of changes, especially change the headlight LED, instead of curve, make it straight, if it is already straight, then make the tail curve, if tail already curved then make it a tick .. there, u have an A8, brand new. The rest of the car is also easy, just stretch it, it's simple then find the best cow skin and lay it in, people will say you have the best interior in the world, no need to be innovative lah, just put all the regular parts, chrome it and the make sure the tolerance is small. Done, another one of the Audi with corporate look. BORING.
Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear December 3, 2009 Share December 3, 2009 fact of the matter is it just won't sell, just like the current A8...people can't even be bothered with Audi... S-Class is the default choice...seat inside the car and rich people just know that's the car for them... 7-series are for young executives...but is just too complicated to operate the functions and technologies of the car... Extramint Clutched December 4, 2009 Share December 4, 2009 people who can afford cars like these (considering bmw7series, jaguarXJ, lexusLS, mercedesSclass etc), will still want their cars to look good. come on, who doesn't want their cars to look good, especially more so if you splash that sum of money. look good here means: looking good or better than cars in the same class, executive looks with a certain level of status and prestige. i think this A8 doesnt offer this. Kangz 3rd Gear December 4, 2009 Share December 4, 2009 Look at the seats , it is not full leather ? It is full leather alright. The centre portion of the seat is upholstered in perforated leather if you spec it with ventilated seats. ↡ Advertisement
