Knht Neutral Newbie January 19, 2010 Share January 19, 2010 IMHO Calmex (Mexico) is the best. THey are coming back after a 3 yrs absence from the abalone market. wah piang, u got good taste. Agreed that Calmex canned Mexico abalone is the best but also very the ex ler. Any idea where to buy the cheapest Calmex abalone here?
Dwoon 1st Gear January 19, 2010 Share January 19, 2010 Calmex is usually above $100 per can. Haven't bought for 5 years already as never cook for CNY. But back then, it was already $110/can. Each can has either 1 big abalone or 1.5 if its smaller.

Zhihao 1st Gear January 9, 2011 Share January 9, 2011 Their abalone sucks. dont waste $$. this is nt necessarily true, fua hwa's abalone is of the same grade as its more famous competitor, at least this is true a few years ago when i did a check in them... my friend's dad is into import/export of such pdts like abalone, sea cucumber, fish maw etc... he gave me a gd education class... there are not that many abalone producers out in the mkt as compared to brands.... a lot of them are OEM ones... u will be shocked to find out the placebo effect that people have when they compare a not so famous and ATAS brand and make biased statements but didn't realize they are from the same producer factory... in fact its very easy to determine whether 2 abalone of different brands are from the same producers. at the top of the can, there is usually a code, eg: "EX816" or "EX1046"... however, some sellers will usually paste their brand sticker over it to hide the codes and sell more expensive... anything that is printed on the side of the can are all just branding and marketing... at least this is true for Australian abalone, nt too sure abt the rest... but sometimes if we are buying for gifts, even i myself will choose the more ATAS brand despite it being same pdt but more expensive... its abit like skoada vs VW... hope this little tip will help u make better decisions... Notobmwmerc Neutral Newbie January 9, 2011 Share January 9, 2011 Ntuc do quote reasonable prices, really good when they offer special price for one or two day only , must compare whether it is one or one half pcs n the net weight of abalone when u r buying

Since you got the professional education before, care to share which one is the better grade? You mention "EX816" or "EX1046"? Its once in a year expense, think don't mind splurging a bit for CNY.
