Scoobydoo Neutral Newbie February 21, 2010 Share February 21, 2010 The Aug 2011 one has the ultra-cheap COE.. a lot of people renewed at that time when PQP was lowest. By right 1st 10 yrs renewed EG DOHC civic's market value is around low $4000/yr for EG9 and mid to high $4000s/yr for EG6. So Aug 2011 ones should be selling for $5-6k, BUT, cars tend to sell more expensively in the last 1-2 yrs of their life. The best time to buy with the view of renewing COE would be those left 3-4yrs. I'm not too sure about the ESI prices, but should be in the $3k/yr region.

Albeniz Turbocharged February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 What is the difference between ESI and LSI? Seems that LSI is slightly cheaper. What is the catch?

Relagsingh 4th Gear February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 thanks alot...anyone have any past experiences with these COE civics? first hand experience please.. Not much to worry abt. as long dun buy auto. usual niggles for COE cars: 1. Valve tappet clearance need adjustment, cheap job. Symptoms are loud ticking sounds during idling and slightly irregular idling 2. Look out for the water hoses. Civics have less durable cooling systems in general. check condition of the pipes leading in and out of the radiator. 3. Usual, check for any major leaks below the car, ie. oil sump, seals, cylinder head gaskets. 4. Check for any major body repair work. If u happen to know any car nut, get them to help u check when viewing. 5. Oil level before and after test drive. if can try to 'kui' the vtec during test cuz the system works on oil pressure. Thats all i can think of for now. But nothing major to worry abt. The EG and EK civics are quite reliable.

Ferraricalifornia 1st Gear February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 so LSI 1.6L 100bhp ESI Vtec 1.6L 115bhp VTi Vtec 1.6L 140bhp Sir Vtec 1.6L 170bhp?? are the figures above correct?? that means current car technologies haven't really improved...in fact it slacken probably just to meet emission standards... Scoobydoo Neutral Newbie February 22, 2010 Share February 22, 2010 ESI/VTI SOHC VTEC - 130bhp VTI/SIR DOHC VTEC - 160bhp (SIR on paper slightly higher) SIR II - DOHC VTEC - 170bhp The B-series engines are famous for 100bhp/lit capabilities. Lack of torque a bit of a pain though. I don't think technology has 'not improved' as much as the concern of emissions and cost of production models. Anyway, K-series for the Rs still putting out good figures. Honda engines (except the F1 one)... ichiban
