Wolfverine Twincharged April 4, 2010 Share April 4, 2010 As already pointed out, S-tronic = DSG gearbox offered by cars under the VW umbrella while multitronic is what most people know as CVT. I tried both S-tronic as well as multitronic and to tell you the truth, the multitronic is less jerky in my opinion. However, the mod enthusiast will say the S-tronic is the way to go. I personally fell for the quattro as the drive is so much more enjoyable and in control. I do not believe there is multitronic quattro model available here (I might be wrong) and so I had to settle for the S-tronic quattro. This topic has also been quite extensively discussed in the VAGSG forum and you might want to consult there as well. ↡ Advertisement
Showtime Neutral Newbie April 4, 2010 Share April 4, 2010 with high powered FWD cars do you still feel the pull/kick? you would. but as it is through the front wheels, there wont be the tail happy antics high powered rwd cars provide.

Johnyeow Neutral Newbie April 4, 2010 Author Share April 4, 2010 thanks all for the input. personally, i felt that the quattro S-tronic is more responsive vis-a-vis multitronic 'CVT'. however, though i'm light footed, when i stepped on the pedal, the sudden surge may be a little too much to handle at this point. i also agree with Kretia that the multitronic version 'boh power' and i just cant get over the fact that the CVT whin so much and the transmission can be a little jerky and lag. on the contrary, the S-tronic's transmission is seamless and 'smooth'. i have decided to go for the quattro S-tronic and hope it is a good decision. going for the AWD quattro with 7 speed S-tronic shouldnt be a bad choice afterall i guess
