OEM and original also got difference in quality and price based on my understanding from stockist. ============ OEM usually is of similar quality to original parts. But prices maybe 20-30% lower. Afterall the car companies dont make the parts themselves but buy from the OEM suppliers. Problem is to find out who r the OEM for the various makes. KYB make shocks for most Jap models but seems Honda & Optra does not use KYB shocks. Even my Optra I still have not found out who is the OEM supplier for shocks. Still looking but worse come to worse, I get from Song Yi or He Xiang cos they sell Original parts but prices quite high.

Don't save money on it. I have seen some differences in quality between OEM and original parts as regards spark plugs, air filters, oil filters etc. Having seen them, I don't mind paying for slightly more for the original ones. I think the Original shocks were made in some 3rd world country. Same with all those other Original parts. I always check the country of origin cos that makes a big difference in the quality. My preferred choice made in Japan but Korea & even Thai for those low tech parts is acceptable. MY is out for me cos I usually see the quality like & China is 100% not for me. Pisces69 6th Gear April 17, 2010 Author Share April 17, 2010 I prefer original parts made in Japan. ============= Original & Made in Japan is the safest but if I can get OEM made in Japan at 20-30% less, then I go for OEM. My Optra quite hard to find OEM parts cos I not familiar with Korean OEMs. Last time my Toyota, no problems. So far, most of the parts I got for the Optra was Original from Song Yi or He Xiang who r authorised stockists. I tried calling GMODC last month but seems nobody answer the phone. I think they closed down already. ↡ Advertisement
