A_korusawa 5th Gear May 7, 2010 Share May 7, 2010 (edited) I am surprised to see this! along jalan bahar yesterday, i saw a civilian clothed standing under the hot sun on the overhead bridge (next to ntu) shooting with speed camera. then along cck hi-way (kje towards bke), another 2 civilian clothed (hiding behind the metal railings & pole) with the speed camera shooting at both directions from the overhead bridge (with shelter). again, after kje into bke, a subaru tp parked by the road shoulder - around 100m away, an officer with the speed camera on stand pointing at the cars. that was in the afternoon til 6pm. worse, my colleaque told me that he kana along cck hi-way while travelling above 10kph, at 10:45pm!!! a fren told me that, on the same day, there was this similar setup on the overhead bridge (near clementi exit) along aye. then another fren also told me that, this similar setup was also seen along lornie rd 2 days ago. what's going on with the tp nowadays? so hardup for $$$ that such underhand tactics were used??? driver, pls be cautioned! Be glad to know that at least here, you see them physically... Unlike PErth, cameras hidden inside trash bins... to top it all, 100m after the hidden camera stands a sign "You have just passed a speed camera, if you were speeding, you will hear from us soon"

Yuan 6th Gear May 7, 2010 Share May 7, 2010 Thanks for sharing. In my opinion, the best approach is to drive within the road speed limit and don't hog the overtaking lane.
A_korusawa 5th Gear May 7, 2010 Author Share May 7, 2010 underhand tactics in what ways? well, not wanting for any arguments nor i'm a speedster - what i feel that tp as a public service shud not ambush drivers in this manner a solid speed camera with sign board is good enuff to deter speeding likewise, a parked tp car with siren is stern enuff for all both abovementioned methods give an instant visible warning and its 100% effective to deter all road drivers from speeding but ambush has no effect at all for the masses . . . this way, its simply looking for $$$ right? Bummer 1st Gear May 7, 2010 Share May 7, 2010 well, not wanting for any arguments nor i'm a speedster - what i feel that tp as a public service shud not ambush drivers in this manner a solid speed camera with sign board is good enuff to deter speeding likewise, a parked tp car with siren is stern enuff for all both abovementioned methods give an instant visible warning and its 100% effective to deter all road drivers from speeding but ambush has no effect at all for the masses . . . this way, its simply looking for $$$ right? I find that the driving public in general only responds when their pockets and points are hit. Since education doesn't work, fixed speed cameras don't work (or only work in one particular area), something has to be done to enforce the limit in other areas as self enforcement by many of the drivers here is severely lacking. With so many having grown up with the "do whatever you want as long as you don't get caught mentality," don't you think mobile speed cameras are the way to go? Otherwise, how would you go about enforcing it if you were given that task? If you're not a speedster, then you should have nothing to worry about. Like one poster above wrote, wait until you experience how often and how seriously speed limits are enforced in other places such as Australia and California, then maybe you won't think what they do here is all that bad. Maybe as a country, we will wise up in another 10 to 20 years, but definitely not right now. In our rush to be first world, we left our social graces behind. Takes time for that to catch up. If you are not a speedster then no worries for you. People whom speed makes the road unsafe and create problem. I hope those whom got bitten wake up and drive safetly and comply to traffic rules. BTW if govt wants money they can tax u 20-30% like other countries, they don't need your "small" money to earn.

Nope they won't wake up one. Simple read those road hoggers must die threads and you will know how self righteous speedsters are. They feel that it is ok to speed in the overtaking lane and that any vehicle slower than them should give way even if it is already going above the speed limit. When you tell them speeding is worse than what they claim to be road hogging aka going 110km/h on the PIE lane 1 when they wanna to go 130km/h.... they will tell you all sort of c--k and bull stories that the road hoggers should give way because 99.999% the speedsters is in some emergency like pregnant wife about to give birth, child having 45 degree fever machiam their lives so sexciting like dat. That said, before anyone flame me for being a "hogger". I always give way because I don't fight with mad dogs. Mad dogs wanna to die is their problem, not my duty to stop them. Kilatz 1st Gear May 7, 2010 Share May 7, 2010 what? Speed Kills bro... Usually it takes an accident or a death in the family due to excessive speeding for this point to drive home. My family experienced this (an uncle died cos a speedster lost control of his car)... thus i for one is FOR clampdown on speedsters. ...btw my uncle died and the driver has permanent disability. Who's at the losing end? ↡ Advertisement
