Where to get salmon roe rice?

i mean not just a bit and mix with sashimi. but the whole bowl is covered with salmon roe type.

If you want good value, my advice is go to Isetan/Media-Ya market, buy a box of the salmon roe (about 20+sgd enough le)... go home and cook short grain rice with a bit of mirin :) Enough for one really big bowl (if u're greedy) or two medium sized bowls :)

 

Or better still, you can wait for prefecture-centric food fairs at Isetan/Media-Ya (look out for them in newspaper) that will come once or twice a year, based on season. I paid 28sgd for a snow crab meat + salmon roe donburi (soooo fresh, soooo good!). in Japanese restaurants, it will set me back 50+ for lesser quality and amount.

 

Take note that in those same food fairs, you will be able to buy salmon roe for way cheaper price because of the season. Buy a few boxes... go home and freeze them. Can stay fresh up to 6 months. The day before you want to eat, take out from freezer and thaw slowly in chiller.
