Good-Carbuyer 1st Gear September 16, 2010 Share September 16, 2010 I was expecting pumping at Esso at 5pm today and to my surprise the cashier told me pump prices just dropped 3 cents. I thought the prices just went up 3 cents yesterday. saved a little money by delaying my pump until today. why are the pump prices so volatile and is there even a need to raise the price yesterday if they were going to drop the following day. Just received SMS:- SPC: get $60/- Synace Fully Syn Motoroil Voucher when U update yr data Awww.spc.com.sq & spend min $100 petrol now to 5/10/10. T&s apply They missed my patronage as I am testing FC with another brand now (Intend to test each petrol brand for FC comparision)
Bystander50 5th Gear September 16, 2010 Share September 16, 2010 Anyone agrees with my assumption. US$ now dropped to a all time low of $1.33. Since crude oil is traded in US$, by right the price should drop. This is also the reason cite when US$ rises, the petrol price rises. By right, petrol price should have reduced, but Esso and Caltex increase it by 3 cents. Is this their ploy to maintain their baseline for oil prices? The usual up 3 cents, drop 2 cents and up 3 cents? Comparing the crude oil price against the pump price, it does not seem to tally with that rate of the past 6 months. Costs wouldn't have increased so much within the past 6 months. Quite surprising the u-turn is so fast. In the past, even if the rest didn't follow suit, they woulld have hold out for 1-2 days before "restoring" the initial price.
Busker888 1st Gear September 18, 2010 Share September 18, 2010 Fact. Pump price down 3cents today for Caltex at 10am. This is the quickest U-turn so far.
