My job involves knowledge on food products.

We all know potato comes in different shapes and sizes, I stop taking regular sized chips that are mixed with artificial stuff since..

Lays ok as I know they use top grade oil and it comes in it's original shape.

Look at Jack and Jill and pringles you will know the difference in quality of oil and artificial starch used.

ha can give more info abt other types of potato chips? eg Ruffles?

Cos i dun like Lay's heh [laugh]

Currently i'm eating Fairprice brand one. original flavour. Cheap & nt too bad.

I always get Kettle (unsalted or lightly salted) or Terra chips. They're a bit more ex (especially the latter), but they're great tasting and made with natural ingredients, etc.

OK I'll be giving a very balance view of key brands of the salted snack segment.

Lays, Ruffles & Doritos are all from Frito Lay of Pepsico.

They are mid price range chips ($2.90 - $4.25) potato/corn chips, competitors are Calbee big bag, Chipsters, Chachos, Pringles.

Frito Lay is the Market leader in terms of market share in SG for salted snack segment.

Particularly in potato chips. Corn Extruded segment leader is Twisties brand. Prawn & Fish cracker segment is Calbee.

Higher Price range ($5.50 and above) products are Terra Chips, Red Rock Deli, Kettle , Lays Kettle Cooked.

The Potato Farm chips from Hokkaido and only can be purchase there, has a nice texture. The next nearest subsitute is Calbee Jagabee from the same type of potato but of slight different grade.

But Terra is not potato chips.

I like the Kettle Chip - Honey Dijon and Red Rock Deli - Chilli

Lays has the best tasting Salt & Vinegar but it's artificial flavouring.

Have. E.g. Terra Blues - one of my favs. But they also have other veggies, and cocktails of different chips.

Red Rock Deli rock too - I like Sea Salt and Lime and Pepper.

i find pringles too salty. i think sure kana kidney stones first b4 cancer

I think all those chips are salty.

Even those less salt one are still salty.

Because one will eat more and the total intake of salt may still be the same.

Like cigarette with mild/light....etc smokers tend to drag more when smoking light version.

I know because I was ex-smoker [laugh]

In the end to reach the same high, the nicotine intake is the same, only the tar get deeper into the lungs.

Back to chips. I use to be able to finish one whole pack Salt & Vinegar in a single serving

but cut down after being told that I was consuming excessively. Now eat half pack once a week or lesser.

From my perception, too much of something will definitely be detrimental to your health some way or another.

Have everything in moderation.

Does it include sex? [:p]
