MadDog70 2nd Gear November 12, 2010 Share November 12, 2010 Buying a car in Singapore is a burden, thinking of leasing one instead so that can change car anytime. Any bro can spell out the pros and cons on leasing? Thanks in advance. ↡ Advertisement

Dreamer143 Clutched November 12, 2010 Share November 12, 2010 Leasing is a more affordable way to get a new car. It takes less down to start a lease and your monthly payments will be less than a purchase. However, you are limited in the amount of miles you can drive during the term of the lease. And it takes a much stronger credit rating to get approved. Plus you need extensive insurance coverage, more than if you were to purchase.

Mansiz Neutral Newbie November 14, 2010 Share November 14, 2010 leasing would be a lot higher than buying one. If u intend to use it long term, then buy one would be better. Unless u just need it for a short period of time.

Unless u just need it for a short period of time. Actually we all lease from Govt due to the COE system. The purchase price minus the scrap value divided by 10 years is what you lease from the Govt for each year of usage. 3rd party leasing is placing a middle man who adds the maintainance plus profit on top of the Govt lease and sub-leases it to you. The only economical leases are from individuals who for some reason which to lease their cars privately, often when they are sick of their cars and cant sell unless settle with finance companies.
