Robo 2nd Gear November 23, 2010 Author Share November 23, 2010 http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSLDE6AM03E20101123 EURO GOVT-Bunds rise after N.Korean artillery fire reports LONDON | Tue Nov 23, 2010 2:09am EST LONDON Nov 23 (Reuters) - German Bund futures rose on Tuesday, matching a sharp rally in U.S. Treasuries after reports of North Korean artillery fire at a South Korean island pushed investors towards safe-haven government bonds. At 0705 GMT, the Bund future FGBLc1 was 29 ticks higher at 128.23. U.S. Treasuries climbed around 20/32 to 125-27/32 following reports that North Korea had fired artillery shells at a South Korean island. [iD:nL3E6MN095] "It's given us a bit of a spurt in line with Treasuries," said a trader. In the euro zone, focus remains firmly on Ireland and the successful passage of its austerity budget, with political opposition threatening to keep markets on edge despite Dublin's application for aid from the European Union and International Monetary Fund. "There's obviously decent conditions attached to any aid package and even vague doubts about getting the budget through are not going to be taken well, so it's not going to help the tone in the periphery at all," the trader added. Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen defied mounting pressure to quit on Monday, saying he would stay in office until parliament passed the budget, then call an early election.[iD:nLDE6AL2AG] The 10-year German bond yield DE10YT=TWEB was 2.623 percent, down 2.7 basis points while the two-year Schatz yield DE2YT=TWEB was 1.6 basis points lower at 1.017 percent. Tweety889 Neutral Newbie November 23, 2010 Share November 23, 2010 Not so easy, UN will have to come in ... Nowadays make money, make love, but not make war. Only N Korea is stupid enough to make war ... since they can't make money. Most significant powers will want to settle using UN before making any move. Jujitsuka 4th Gear November 23, 2010 Share November 23, 2010 Bro, do u think China/Russia will help N.Korea & US/Japan, S.Korea? China will definitely aid N Korea. Russia maybe on the sidelines to see if it can seize any profits... Japan n US will definitely aid S korea cos N korea's ballistics missiles will easily reach all of Japan and Alaska in the US. ↡ Advertisement
