Mrel 1st Gear December 17, 2010 Share December 17, 2010 My reinforment bars has got rust at its corners and is advised to treat it. However the WS I patronise doesnt do that. Any one got contacts to do rust treatments? Also for ATF, can I get the Amsoil ATF for SX4, which requires Dexron 3? ↡ Advertisement
SimonTan 2nd Gear December 17, 2010 Share December 17, 2010 Just DIY yourself. Perhaps just drip some engine oil around the rust....keeps the rust away. Or get a $6, spray can, $2 masking tape, and some newspaper. Spray the bar to cover the rust!

DIY shops sells it in a bottle. brush the chemical over the rust area and it will dry up converting the rust to protective metal.

Which DIY shop selling this...Thks Think most Homefix store or big hardware stores like those in Ubi or AMK... yeah easiest go to Homefix stores in most shopping centres... Still need to scrap off the loose rust lightly but don need to sand down so you don get clumps later or if you got a wire brush just brush it of then apply the rust converter. Nope the chemicals only react to rust, just brush over the rust parts should be ok. When its dry it will look deep transparent black effect.
Usui_takumi Neutral Newbie December 21, 2010 Share December 21, 2010 just get some anti rust pain from autobacs or home diy. As for ATF, yes Amsoil one will do fine.
Mrel 1st Gear December 21, 2010 Author Share December 21, 2010 Bought the rust converter. $10 for 1 small bottle. Wow! Applied 1 side of the reinforcement bar, but can't reached the other side as it was blocked off by parts of the engine. Sigh... After applying, need to paint? Or leaving it as it is will do the job? ↡ Advertisement
