Windwaver Turbocharged March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 If you can stop without screeching your tyres go ahead, if not keep moving is actually safer. I rather somebody don't break too hard and cause an accident instead ↡ Advertisement
Shicyj Neutral Newbie March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 arrows or lines? i thot we're referring to the (usually) 3 white lines drawn perpendicular to the road at the traffic lights. cartoon right?... let us see you trying to brake at the 3rd line from the front... that's like at most 5 meters from the front. Chrispie 5th Gear March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 How many times has a traffic light turned yellow as you approach an intersection, and you are uncertain if you can make the light or not? To speed or slam brake? What is really our best choice? Timings of yellow light are different at each junction, i've experienced some as short as 2 seconds, once yellow come out, it will jump to red on next blink. Kinda stressful whenever passing a green light that has been on for quite some time. I prefer seeing a red light that is on for very long. And as i reach, it will turn green Will it be better to have those LED timing indicators for cars (like in some countries), showing how long before the light will turn red? Maybe we can petition for them my learning instructor taught me this: Before each junction, there will be 3 arrows. When amber appears, if you are at 3rd arrow, you stop. If you are at 2nd arrow, speed up. So far works for me.
Civic3106 1st Gear March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 If you are not speeding throught the junction and follow the 3 arrows rule, that should work almost in every occassion. But most importantly don't take thing for granted. You got green light, do not mean you are safe from crossing above speed limit. Look out for cars and pedestrians from left and right while crossing. Kena from those muttonhead dreamers a few times, lucky manage to stop before smashing them. The junction near my house got accident every now and then created by these day dreamers. At least 3 major accidents took place at the same junction for the past 1 month.

Mike1234 1st Gear March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 One more point that i would like to add: Red Light Camera -Serves as a purpose to avoid accident ( traffic from other directions) -However, if accident like Car A decided to do an E-brake. Car B could not stop on time. Thus resulting in an accident (Rear-ended). IMO: If having Red Light Camera would means having lots of such accidents...Then i guess it's kinda pointless

Cephas 3rd Gear March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 (edited) my learning instructor taught me this: Before each junction, there will be 3 arrows. When amber appears, if you are at 3rd arrow, you stop. If you are at 2nd arrow, speed up. So far works for me. it's the same theory for me, 2 arrow stop rule as i had mentioned earlier. To put more clarity on this, it should be when you on the 3rd arrow from the traffic stop line, you stop. When you are on the 2nd arrow from the traffic stop line, you speed up. So when i see 2 arrows in front of me when turning amber, i should be on the 3rd arrow, then i need to stop - the 2 arrow stop rule. Yes, totally agree. Even when my side ALREADY green the driver from the previous green light still go! And not just cars, even large vehicles including public bus. So for those who complain Singapore so many fine, well who ask singapore no self discipline?

But doesn't matter whether they jam brake or not. If u maintain a safe distance u will definitely be more than 3 arrows from the junction if they are at the first arrow. So u will already be braking right? Unless the person behind rushing and was planning to beat red light lo.

5936 1st Gear March 14, 2011 Share March 14, 2011 Looking at the ways some drivers behave at traffic lights, the yellow light has no effect on them In fact, they are playing the red light, or end of green arrows. The will cheong the within 2 seconds after red light, if no cam. ↡ Advertisement
