Why so many people hate WRX?

I compared FD2 and STI Spec C, which is a proper track car too.

FastestLaps

STi Wins...

I would compare STI to FD2R. Spec C with the Mugen RR. And Spec C Type RA-R with the Advance concept Mugen RR. [laugh]

STI by itself is quite good enough even for track. But I cannot say the same for a base WRX.

And if it's a little closer to home, in terms of track timings in sepang.

The timings speak for themselves.

But as always, no need to compare here compare there. a few rotten apples does not make the whole community rotten. There are always haters. Honda has haters. WRX has haters, Evo has haters......but take a step back and look at the bigger picture. Why are they hated? Perhaps because for that kind of price it decimated alot of so called "atas" conti brands and hence the hatred?

That being said, I rather pay for a cheap top of the range JDM ride than an expensive bottom of the rung conti ride.

Of course when it comes to modification then the sky is the limit for FI cars.

Bro I didn't really want to compare a rex and CTR. You did mentioned that a base rex can hold its own against a CTR hence leading to this discussion. I am sure many would agree that is not the case.

Even for straight line power, a CTR will still win a stock WRX as the latter runs out of breath on the higher end.

Debatable.......but as always, let's leave it as that.

I am pretty sure you have seen FD2Rs winning wrx in a drag...and I myself have also witnessed wrx winning FD2Rs.

So yes...it is debatable and never conclusive.

And yes I did say a wrx can hold its own against a CTR. Unless you are telling me an EP3 is not a CTR, I hold my peace.

I got my ride when the FD2R wasn't released yet. So I was comparing it to its predecessor. But I concede that the current FD2R is indeed a weapon of choice for many people who are into tracking be it at PG or SIC.

Of cos. But let's not start an NA vs FI debate.

Agree totally. Clutch slip lar, engine piangz lar, turbo peet.. tai chi liao liao.

Just wanna share this with u. I've driven in my stock rex btw 220 to 240Km/h in the middle of the night all the way to KL (only stop once for fuel) without any problem. Take 2hrs odd to reach. Moral of the story, keep the car stock if u want relaibility. I've seem many of the friends who mod their rides has relaibility issue especially travelling long distances.

Talking about attas conti brands I had my fair share of VW drivers challenging me as well. [laugh] I have seen Scirocco 1.4 tsi poking me while I am minding my own business on the the 2nd lane. Instinctively I gave way by moving to the 3rd lane [rolleyes] and tailed him back to let him have a taste of his own medicine. Jokers like them will then try to impress me with their small engine and turbos. But when i pedal to the metal I can't even see their headlight after a while. [rolleyes] I also kana GTI cutting into my lane abruptly as if they own the roads.

Many of these "attas" conti drivers look decent and well groomed but their behaviors are no different from those Ah bengs driving thiong chias. [shakehead]

Conti drivers also have black Sheeps one lah. Met so many merc and BMW drivers who think they own the road by cutting in abruptly and like u said, vw drivers seem to be the new trend of yuppies who wanna always tail jdm performance ride. But then for those black sheeps there are also good drivers around.

I am sure you can create, it's a free society. But unless you yourself are capable of being faster than some of the faster rexes around, I don't think you can lay claim that the wrx is slow.

No need to create lah, only smart, strong and successful people can afford WRX.

Many had prove that to me on the road everyday.

I agree all makes will have their black sheeps but the recent trend from VW allowing affordable access to turbo continental rides has unleashed the Beng alter ego of many seemingly decent chaps. [laugh]

ahh.... the spirit of challenge and maybe even friendly match.... the jazz/swift may know they will lose, but want to find out how much is the different... so why not just have a friendly...... everyone will be satisfied [:)] ............ if my neighbour's 6 years old boy wants to race me during my jog, why not? all for the fun of it

ok, if the jazz/swift feel upset after the friendly, that'll be their pasar, they ask for it... if they are not upset but enjoy it, like i just said, everyone is happy.... (opps, the 335 owner may be upset coz he wastes his petrol.... but how much will it costs him?)

if 335 owner bo eng to race, ok also, but no need to look down at the invitation to have a friendly

lets relax and be cool about invitation to 'race'.... accept or not accept is one thing, seriously no need to look down on others, dio bo?

Agree wif u, bro... guess some juz wanna have fun...

Many yrs back wen i was ridin a 400cc, i used to chase after bigger cc bikes... i know i can't outrun them but juz for de fun & to test ownself...

come to tink of it, was quite reckless... well was young at tat time, nvr tink la... nowadays older more wiser... no more racin la... drive careful oready... [laugh]

A bold statement to make bro. 1.4 TSI so fast? [laugh]

i drive something else when i go out late at night.

not trying to sound snobbish again but i realised, what you drive, indirectly determines the type of cars that wants to challenge you.

with my 1.4TSI scirocco, usual challengers are SSS, jazz/fit, getz, 1.8 or 2.0 civic. most of the time i dont care, because i want to avoid dangerous driving or people seeing red after the sprint. having said that, scirocco is not fast at all, just slightly faster than normal everyday cars that are 10-11s. people with fairylady, wrx/sti/evo and above probably cannot be bothered with me haha ^_^

when i drive my family's z4 35i.. all these clowns heavily modded ones, suddenly so calm and cool by the side. my neighbours drive alot of GTR and AM, bentley all these exotic makes. when i come home late, always see them one.. so its common to sprint abit. but we v friendly, stop at busstop at 3am chit chat after friendly sprint. im ok with losing, but not many people feel the same.

yeah i agree wholeheartedly. even now vw and even scirocco so common [bigcry]

this trend will only increase.. just look at vw's marketing and sales strategy. below bmw only.

If you noticed, heavily modded cars usually are the ones who keep their cool. They release it on the tracks. The trend of reckless driving and all that whatnots are usually young hot blooded teens looking for an adrenaline rush.

But who are we to judge as everyone goes through that phase. To be old and wise you have to be young and foolish once.

And no offence, a heavily modded evo or sti or even a fd2r is fully capable of taking on a z4. Perhaps they just choose not to.
