Topgun Neutral Newbie May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 today said he is in Kaki bukit ward...he said his vote is 50/50 ler.....not 60%.. What was reported was that after first 15 min of vote counting, it's 50/50, he 'knew' Aljunied was lost. http://www.asiaone.com/News/AsiaOne%2BNews...510-278079.html
A5SB 1st Gear May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 Remove RC is a good thing. Prevents PAP from spreading their propaganda to the people. Maybe it's me, I just go work, come home spend time with family. Whether or not they exist have zero impact on me. It could be worthwhile to setup something for WP there, maybe we start a donation drive for them. Ghostami 2nd Gear May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 (edited) I dunno - I am not in an oppostion ward. BUT if they do, I will be at the front of the queue condemning them. Base on what I see in PP, most of the time RC event guest of honor is STYP. Never did I hear they invite CST before or did I miss it if they did. Yattokame 4th Gear May 10, 2011 Share May 10, 2011 I just recalled a piece of my childhood memory in Hougang The RC used to organize some farm visits or day trips as well as the mooncake festival thingy which my mum used to bring us to. then in 1991 when LTK won the elections, all these activities stopped and even the RC ppl told my mum they are "closing down" because it is now an "opposition ward". I can't rem the exact words but the meaning was something like that.
Wson 1st Gear May 11, 2011 Share May 11, 2011 Yesterday news says PAP Zainul will continue to be advisor to the Aljunied RCs and CCs, so I guess that means RCs will remain in Aljunied
Best_ctzn Clutched May 11, 2011 Share May 11, 2011 In case you not familiar, all RCs and CCs will report to advisers from PAP in opposition wards. So all those PAP candidates in GE2011 will automatically become advisers in their respective wards. All official functions will be graced by them. RC and CC are meant to serve the residents in the area. I believe they are also funded by the country. Why are PAP advisors of RC and CC then? Singapore, RC, CC, PA, NTUC and many other organization, do not equate to PAP.

Moredhel 2nd Gear May 11, 2011 Share May 11, 2011 O.K... I humbly ask you a simple question... How can your Masters used State funds to threaten and tempt you heartlanders..like the money to be used come from the party funds, during erection? You mean party fund IS STATE fund? So does that answer your question about....professionalism? Your humbility is noted. First off, the term 'Masters' is wrongly used here, although some prefer to equate on a myopic perspective, many refuse to accept that the main holding principle of democracy is the people. And having 2/3s majority in any democracy(from the people) is equivalent to an almost totaliarian form of government. Since Sinkies are not interested in their own politics and the impact of their votes, why bother complaining when the incumbent shoves reality down your throat? The government is the legally elected guardian of the state fund. The state funds are a collective pool from the people. The majority of the people have voted this government in. How they bend the rules depends on the available system of check and balance(which is none), so no one need complain as long as they decide to take a back seat in politics. Why are these losers allowed to be advicers in the wards they lose. A quote from LTK - The Opps have difficulties in organising activities for residents in p8p wards as applications are always rejected. So why are these losers given the approval? These people are not the elected MPs to serve the residents, similiar to an unelected president trying to act as one.

As to why PAP losers are appointed advisors and why oppositions always have their applications rejected, i guess everyone knows the answers.... PLease note the "advisor" to the RC is from the ruling party (AKA: PAP) if the individual is also a minster then they have 2 hats (MPS/TC and RC) example: STYP of PP vs Chiam. when are you free to start the queue? i will be right behind you bro! I have started my queue already. Not appropriate to share right now, but I am not hiding from the issue. If you wanna find out more about how "the govt" system works, then, as with any system, my best advice would be to write to the administrators and ask questions to find out more about the roles, responsibilities, judgements and criterias of the appointments. Ohh i know a few people in the PA.. i have loads of stories of PAP vs the OPPO. but my lips are sealed. it's best you find out yourself. For the record the PA is an A-POLITICAL org under the singapore constituation. but the ones in power get to use this tool to their advantage, i'm pretty sure if WP is in power they would love to weld the might of the PA.
