I am not passing judgement on what the rules should be. Nor how the law might have been written, nor how it is implemented.

I am repeating the law as it is, and also just stating that I have full confidence in the capabilities of the Chairman of the PA to make a well informed and judicious decision.

In reality I am not exactly sure how it came to be that the advisor was default choice to be the VIP. To me an advisor should, you know, advise. On the other hand something such as Patron is a very different role.

What I think would be awesome would be if the RC had free range to decide who is the GOH. So when opening a sports centre for example they may wish to invite someone like Tao Lee, when opening a tuition centre, they may wish to invite the previous years top scorer in A levels to give a speech.

So far in my role with the RC I haven't yet been involved in any discussions on who should we invite as the GOH for a particular event.

I understand that you are trying to be neutral. But sitting on the fence too long, will drive the stick up your butt.

BTW : any constitution has to at least appear apolitical. However the reality is far from this guiding thread.

It's great that you have involved yourself in the RC , I don't doubt your intentions..... be careful the lure from the dark side is strong Mr jedi.

Regards.

If that is the case, may I ask why the notice board of advisors is right in front of the lift whereas the elected mp notice board is at another corner which sometimes people do not notice at all? This happens at PP for a long time already...

The very easy answer to that is that it is not "the advisors" notice board but rather the RC notice board. It may be semantics but there is a difference. By right ANY political notice board should come secondary to a community service notice board.

If a notice board has been "co-opted" In a way that benefits a non incumbent politician that is a flaw in implementation. It is not something wrong with the notice board or with the role the RC Plays.

In a perfect world "political" uses for any notice board would not be allowed in a community space. Please think aboutthis carefully and differentiate a political use from a factual community use. And then think what use each board is SUPPOSED to be put to. .

Hmm on paper seems like a good thing, but other than the reduced season parking charges, not much use for me [:(] I don't even park anywhere else other than my season parking lot for my neighbourhood, no kids (and far from getting any), and events, well, errm... i already get free tix to those i like... Maybe I should get the tix and auction them off on MCF [:p]

One of our members here highlighted to me that RC volunteers still pay full HDB parking. So I stand corrected if my info isn't accurate.

However, my neighbour who has been trying hard to recruit me did tell me she paid "special" price for her parking. Maybe that was one of her ways trying to get me in.

As for the tickets, that one is verified true. She gives me the tickets as and when she couldn't attend.

I salute the effort the volunteers put in to make the estate a better place to live in. Still, I am not convinced as I am strongly against its allegience to a particular political party. It should operate as an independent entity.
