I was told it is cheaper to buy IPad 2 in US, but when I compare the prices, difference in only SGD$7. So why is it cheaper to get from US??

1. Buy from US, 16GB, WIFI only, White: US$539 = SGD$661

hmm...I just came back from HK. If you use cash to purchase an iPAD2 (64GB + 3G) model you will get > SIN$80 savings.

HK$6488

exchange rate is about 6.37 (can get better) = 1018.37 (*)

Singapore Apple online store sells about = SIN$1108

(*) got to use cash.....CC rates are not too good. Savings not alot.

Oh.....then Singapore is cheaper.

Just need to claim the 7%GST after leaving Singapore!

And then bring the iPad back as used items.

$7 is indeed cheaper!!

Maybe can get back some tax rebates further?

And still need to change the plug pin to Singapore version, which will be more than $7.

I thought difference will be around $100-200+.

IPad 2, has international warranty?

But still need to change the plug pin to Singapore version, so additional cost.

The savings are insignificant for the risk and trouble.

I normally hunt down for bargains at local stores (free RAM upgrade, free accessories, or deep discounts for other purchase etc).

buy from terminal 3 changi air port when you fly out.

it does not charge 7% GST and you can use credit card.

for US, it depends which state you buy some. some charges VAT, thus wipe out your saving and there's the plug but that's small issue
