many have commented that PRs have 0 loyalty for singapore despite going thru NS and attaining citizenship

i recall long ago i once read that LKY once said that he doesn't trust giving arms to non-chinese races in NS; not sure if its true

so does he think its safe to pass arms to these new citizens?

are these new citizens allowed to carry arms and go to war for singapore?

i guess the only way to know whether those new citizens would fight for singapore is to go to a war....or start a war....there's no way of knowing during peace time...same for 'native' singaporeans

sorry, i can't directly post what i'm trying to say because i'll get yellow carded for being racist

let me try to rephrase

in singapore army there are certain races that are only allowed to go into police force and not army

are new citizens treated this way too? or are they treated like other races that go into army?

Agree. No way to know. And the people who stay and fight are those who cannot go elsewhere.

War may be a real threat 40 years ago. Today, it is too expensive, too much sanctions, and we have no oil. So threat has decreased.

But our defense spending has increased, at expense of budgets for health, education..etc.

If defense spending decrease, can make healthcare free.

My hope.

Just send them to peace keeping missions at the front line, not hiding behind at the rear.

If LKY trust Chinese Singaporean, he would not have the Gurkhas contingent to guard his house.

In the army, Malays will not be able to hold important security position. He is afraid that the Malays will turn their back if happen a war with Malaysia or Indonesia.

But the Singaporean Malays have pledge they will not betray their own country and will die for it even if there's possible war with Malaysia.

Talking about traitors, who was the one working for the Japanese in WW2?

And he has the galls to say whom to trust? The Malays in Singapore has demonstrated their loyalty and dedication to their country.

Some specific old man on the other hand has demonstrated his willingness to turn coat and work for the enemy.

So whowill you believe?

i'm talking about real battles, eg east timor

or perhaps in the future when china finally reclaims taiwan, not civil war

anybody can say the pledge, but when faced with real trouble the pledge is just a pledge right?
