the point is insurance doesnt cover everything...

eg:speeding,drink-driving,driving without a licence.

yes r no?

YES it does cover those things...but in a different way.

What happens is that in those sorts of instances, the insurance company pay first, and then pursues the case against the other party.

But cases where "insurance is denied" are a huge minority. What is far more common is that one insurance company is liable.

So just because drink drivers don't gete insurance you think insurance is worhtless? That's a very interesting position. And one that I would expect to be held by a regular drink driver. Why? Well when he drinks and drives, he don't get no insurance, if he's not going to be covered anyway, why should he be forced to buy something that he's not going to use.

You are not a drunk speeding driver are you?

you really dont understand how our current insurance sys works

i alrdy said ppl can claim when insurance doesnt cover under current sys.

get more info....get a life.

Don't worry, I've got plenty of life and info, and I know jolly well how the current insurance system works - probably more so than you as I've made claims on other drivers' policies before.

But I don't understand your post. If both drivers are uninsured, who are you going to make the claim from? Litigation is an extremely painful process for all involved - good luck paying $5k in lawyer fees for your $1k bumper.

Precisely due to lack of insurance coverage, you do NOT want to get into an accident with someone who's drink-driving etc, due to the hassle in getting any remuneration. And insurance covers a speeding driver - are you sure you know how the GIA works in Singapore?

if you drink and drive and wont ever get into accident,

then no need for insurance too,for you.

YES I do - Insurance ALSO protects me against the other driver - whether he is covered or not, I get my money first from insurance company, they the company chases the other driver.

This is the value of insurance

maybe different coverage.

my cert clearly states no coverage for speeding.

then why permit the difference.

It depends how egregarious the speeding was, and if they can prove it.

Anyway, IF you are not covered, your insurance company will still pay - it's just that they will recover the money from you.

Neutral Newbie

So much of efforts put in by GIA to control and manage claim cost but neglected on the part of safe drivers.

Every year our premiums rise across the board and safe drivers should be rewarded lowering the premiums.

It's always the case of other people mistakes at our expenses. That's not fair

Well some safe drivers are rewarded - DirectAsia for example only takes the low risk drivers,

then if you are safe you can get a discount of up to 55% - isn't this also a reward?

you cant have a perfect sys.

when you claim privately, you may not recover entire damage.

but then majority need not pay premium,if they choose so.

you can still choose to buy insurance.

main aim is to lower premiums,up competition of various parties.

isnt it majority complain premiums high?

its a case of give and take.

choose a sys best suits us.

not a perfect one.

Oh premium is increase as we have a HI TECH system (Hi Tech as in suck money from our pocket) so premium have to increase but its for the benefit of everyone...yada yada yada....

ID the bad drivers ? TOTAL BAN him from driving lor....follow standard lah...2 yellow card and one red card....see who still dare to anyhow claim OR anyhow sign idemity letter to 3rd party workshops and let them anyhow claim.

Bottom line...insurance still going up...

i don think with such system, the decent drivers will enjoy lower rates... just another excuse for insurers to impose and justify a much higher rates to bad drivers.

i concur..more like a way to fleece bad drivers..while good drivers pays the same(or more) <_<

I suggest that all taxi drivers have to purchase motor insurances at market rates and assess by underwriters using underwriting guideline swhich apply to everyone else rather than allowing them to enjoy preferential rates from their own companies.
