Glad you got away unscathed. [thumbsup] Very inspiring words for an impending Chevy owner.

If I may point out.... the total basic cost for the Orlando is... abt~ S$115k (that was May figure, it should have come down to S$109k by now). safe to say AD takes between S$10,000 to S$15,000 profit (depending on whether they throw in freebies).

For net price to reach S$9X,XXX range... COE's got to dip at least S$20,000 to S$30,000.

Haha... it will definitely be interesting to watch your predictions unfold! :D

Random Thoughts:

GM's Chevrolet seems like an up and coming global player, they have done much to build the brand. They have come a long way to understanding consumer preference. There's a distinct feel about how the Orlando was engineered (by the Germans) the same feeling and vibe from customers who buy a VW Golf.

Balance~

Just received a pm from a Sales that Orlando is now $124K for 6 bid non guarantee. Special price for me is $120K (i think with lower COE rebate). Still higher than Feb period.

Neutral Newbie

Thanks for the information. Buy already not sure can ask Alpine workshop to install for us or not? [confused] .

Just curious that even if any workshop can install will this work? As I was in a friend's car (VW Tiguan) he had his key is his pocket (I was test driving his car) I could start the car once I was in it...

We will likely need a transreceiver (Not sure if this is the correct word to use) so that the car will know the owner is in the car right?

That's just a button. What about the wiring and module that is is supposed to connect to to work properly?

The Orlando still feel very composed and steady with 7 adults, 5 is nothing. Maybe feel heavier with 7 adults but very firm and steady and does not wobble.

Basic cost should be ~ S$103k now... so their margin still within 10-20k range.

Our brother here waiting for S$9X,XXX, basic cost will need to fall till S$7X,XXX range.

+++

That said, got to admit though, even if they moderate the quota to check the COE$, what are the odds that the COE will dip to a low of S$40k (Cat B)... our friend is right... GE around the corner, better to garner love than hate. Plus given the string of events, MRT breaking down 3 hours... etc, i'm starting to believe anything can happen on this tiny little red dot =p.

If that happens, it just means that all ya'll getting it in August will get it at a very very good price... we'll know in the 2nd july bid.

+++
Nevertheless:
I'm excited much to be collecting my ride early next week though... [;)]

Random Thought:

Wish, Mobilio, Mazda5, Scenic, GPicasso, Orlando... etc

Any of these would be better than a Pug5008... dat ETG gearbox is just cmi. [thumbsdown]

Agreed. There's no end to whether it is the lowest price, best package etc. The most important factor is always whether it's a car that serves your needs and whether you are ok with then only payment. Welcome to the Orlando family! Edited by Biglittlebean

Take a look at the following graph (be it its 6-month history or 2-year history since its inception):

Really dig the original concept car...

http://www.automobilesreview.com/pictures/detroit/chevrolet-orlando-2009/

They should totally launch a 2.0 Twin-charged; V8. (R-Spec or something)

Something that will roar and also fetch 7people, Like a R-Line Touran, except the Orlando would have more face-value.

Could call it Chevrolet Zeus.... :yuush:

jk...

I also prefer the original prototype design of the Orlando (so nice), and was dismayed that when it translated into the production model, the new "facelift" had become "less than desirable".

Thus upon getting my ride, I will purchase some coloured tapes (from Spotlight) to turn the headlights into a more contemporary shape. Will post my "artist's impression" here later.

At least they kept most of the interior of the prototype car in the production model. See these similar interiors of the prototype:

The $120k quote has a COE rebate of $46K while the $124K has a rebate of $50K. Yes, both are really low but the chances of the $120k getting the COE is much lower. Furthermore, the $124K comes with 3 years servicing. I am not sure how much are they going to bid. Perhaps, they may do $65K for $124K package but only $61K for $120K package.

Sorry for the wait. The first photo shows the original Orlando which I'll be purchasing in August:

And after trimming and pasting the red tapes (to be purchased from Spotlight), the following is the "Artist's Impression" on how it will then look like:

So I'm now seeking opinion as to whether it would look nicer?

Hi, I was wondering if there are local stores selling Orlando accessories?

I saw that Ebay, Alibaba, etc have many accessiors for Orlando, will there be risk buying online?
