So TS did you pay for the petrol? Or you realized it only after payment?

If before payment, how can one ask the petrol station manager to remove it? Seriously, will the petrol station entertain such request of wrong fuel by it's attendant?

It happened to me 2yrs ago but I still drove my ride, the pickup became very slow and "heavy" almost powerless, and instead of finishing my full tank with regular 550km, I've done at 400km with 95. The wrong fuel did not effect my engine.

there is this thing call the knock sensor that retards the timing that prevents knocking. Yes, the engine will have lesser performance, but is it not the better option than to drain out and waste time?

Actually can just top up with octane booster. Am sure most stations do carry them.

Yeah, off-the-shelf octane boosters don't really do squat. Unless you're talking about using stoichiometrically calculated quantities of toluene or xylene.

i always leave it to the uncle there. in fact, it's not really hard to pump ourself... open lid, unscrew lock, insert the pump, press n hold the trigger till it auto-atop, remove pump, lock, n close... though i nv try myself b4, but think of it, that's the job of theirs to pump for us rite? if everyone DIY, then that uncle will be jobless soon... would u feel guilty for in-directly causing him to lose job?

last but not least, normally when i verbally tells the uncle which to pump, i also use my finger to point to that RON98 pump i wanted. So it create "double-confirmation" here. then i just walk in to wait to pay, no need to supervisor at all, and nv got problem so far

Agreed, some pump attendants didnt pay attention of what you tell them. That's why better to see them pump before you walk off. Last time also happened to me before, tell the pump attendant to pump 95, but he pumped 98 instead! And another time, told him to pump full and he pumped $20 only! [dizzy]

Wat will happen if your turbo run on 95? Overhaul? Car will stalled? The poor attendant kana f upside down by his manager and might need to pay for the extra tank of petrol out of his own pocket?

not sure if the attendant deserved it: his job is simple --- basically it's:

1. listen carefully what his customer wants (92, 95, 98 three choices), and

2. pump accordingly. Is there any job in the world more simple than this??

yet he screwed up.... :o
