Good for them, finally realised that fc is one of their shortcomings.

But 20km/l is damn impressive for a 2l, even 15km/l is super good for non hybrid.

Interior looks the same as the current model but xterior changed a little. Hope the sky-active + 6 gears can boost some sales for Mazda.

unfortunately, this new tech only for the 2L engines which have to fight

in the competitive, ie. expensive Cat B.

and historically, not as many 2L Mazda3 solds compared to 1.5L ones.

am driving a Mazda3 2.0 and it gives me 12km/L or 8.3L/100km on a 17in rim...uses caltex 98...which I consider very good for a 2.0L car. Hope the sky-active lives up to its claim.

14:1 compression with low FC is impressive, only question is its reliability with all that pressure.

compression ratio stated by mazda is 12:1.

The Nissan Tiida is a compact car, manufactured by Japanese automaker ... 1.5-litre straight-4 HR15DE gasoline engine; fuel economy 18.0 km/litre in JC08 Mode. ...

or 17.2km/L under the JC08 test cycle) achieved by most models with the SKYACTIV-G 2.0

haha u gana plugged

I have always been amused with Nissan's naming, first time I saw our local Latio badged as TIIDA in Bangkok, first thing come to mind is "TIIDA apa", as in tidak apa attitude [bigcry]

And the TEANA first thing I thought was the adult diaper TENA and second thing I thought was how is TEANA supposed to be read? Tee-Na? Tina Turner? or Tian Ah! (chinese, my goodness!), I hate this car

yeah mostly sg roads but occasionally off to KL and back. My fuel consumption had been hovering ard 8.4L/100km until I sent in for 20000k service. Then it dropped to 8.3L/100km. So am still puzzle why many forumers complained that Mazda3 consume more than other makes in the category. My colleague bought a Forte 1.6 and only to sold it after 8mths complaining on high fuel consumption and weak performance and of course he made some $ out of the escalating COE...lol

For Forte, if it's auto, no surprise for high FC. Or any 1.6 family saloon car with an auto tranny.

You made the right choice for going for a 2L Mazzie 3. If you'd chosen 1.6L, probably you will be complaining about the high FC now.

A manual 2L Mazzie 3 will be perfect, but....

Because Mazda SG has not done its marketing well...

compression ratio stated by mazda is 12:1.

That is because they can't fit the new exhaust manifold design into the current Mazda3 chasis, so they have to detuned the engine... The 14:1 compression ratio will only be available on the next generation ride starting from the CX-5 next year...

U r comparing the fuel consumption of a 1.5 to a 2.0??? Y don't you add in the performance spec as well???

Prolly using a millers cycle engine, and IIRC, the pressure was never a direct issue in the past, it was the early detonation because of it that was it, but Mz claims its been solved via their improved designs for the internals.

Yes, it will be 12:1 for the 2012 North American version, and 13:1 for the 2012 version for the rest of the world, thereafter it will be raised to 13:1 and 14:1 respectively.
