RadX Moderator December 6, 2011 Share December 6, 2011 I oso be taxi driber http://www.mrbrown.com/blog/2011/12/this-m...n+%28mrbrown%29
This may be the reason why Comfort DelGro raised taxi fares
The outrage over Comfort DelGro's upcoming fare hike and extension of peak surcharge hours to include Sunday and public holidays has been quick and visceral. I found this photo floating around teh internets which may or may not be the reason for the fare hike. Not to be outdone, there are rumours that CityCab is also planning a new surcharge for customers who want to be the Elite of Elite Taxi customers. Soon you will see the pre-peak taxi surcharge, pre-midnight-disappearance surcharge, the driver-lunch-hour & changing shift surcharge. My other predictions: 2012: "Comfort Del-Groan Taxis is pleased to announce that the new surcharge-less period of the day is now 2.15pm to 3.15pm." 2013: "Comfort Del-groan Taxis is pleased to announce that there will be no fare surcharge on days beginning with "G"." 2014: "Comfort Del-groan Taxis is pleased to announce that there will now only be two surcharges: peak and more-peak." (In case you are wondering, these are NOT real photos of Singapore cabs but are cleverly photoshopped images by witty internet persons.) ↡ Advertisement
Wyvern 1st Gear December 6, 2011 Share December 6, 2011 I somehow find this contradicting to what is encourage by our government to use public transport. And yet fare rises for Buses and Taxi. On the other hand, they also cut back the COE quota. I wonder what is the next available means of transport that we can use...

Watwheels Supersonic December 7, 2011 Share December 7, 2011 Actually I was quite surprised to see one of the news headlines that the taxi association urges other taxi operators to do the same as Comfort's fare hike. Since when do taxi operators have affliation with each other?? If the taxi operators follow suit dan it would be anti-competitive or I would put it, price fixing. Which is why they 'urge' publicly, give it an appearance of not being in collusion like the oil companies here.

KARTer 2nd Gear December 7, 2011 Share December 7, 2011 taxi is not considered public transport right? since our public transport system is shiiit house standard (cramped, late, etc etc), commuters have no choice but to rely on taxis (especially those who cant afford to drive, as the roads are increasingly 'reserved' for the rich)...... so?
