Caaa Clutched January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 iPhone is not dual sim phone. You need a dual sim phone. Thanks for respond. Other than dual sim, is there any scheme whereby we could prepaid a data plan and "tag" into our current phone number? so that to save the hassle of change sim card I find to bring another phone just to use Singtel line and get a prepaid data card for iphone is kind of troublesome....particularly the sim card now is of different sizes...... Was thinking of the short term roaming unlimited data plan offered by Singtel but quite concern on the recent $300k phone bill issue....

Caaa Clutched January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Each time is 2-4 days. Tot the $300k phone bill case also locked to specific network yet something screwed up? Currently when travelling @ MY would try to search for free WIFI, especially when visiting restaurant. Hotel got free internet but not all will have free WIFI.... Ever check with MY telco sometime ago, at that time only way is to bring another phone for my Singtel line, then buy a prepaid data card for my iphone....by doing that, not sure apps such as Whatsapp, Skype etc would still work on my iphone with a different phone number.... found it troublesome cos of microsim... WOuld expect one day these telco come out a easier way...

Changing SIM will not affect ur apps, when sim card is swapped, Whatsapp asked for change of number, just click no, it still works, but if u click yes, a new number will appear on ur friends phone. If the bill is a fear factor, then suggest u just bring another phone.
Caaa Clutched January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 (edited) Bro, thanks for sharing. May I learn from you which MY prepaid card you buy, value and data packed? So you juz change your orginal SG micro sim (with adapter) to another phone, then load the prepaid sim into your iphone? is the prepaid card a Mircosim or u need to cur it to fit into iphone? Other than Whatsapp, I suppose all the phone number-base apps would also need to "update" for that few days (while iphone is have a different number)? so upon return to SG, u need to do the updating once more? Thanks for taking your time to advise, Happy New Year !! Edited January 3, 2012 by Caaa

Happily1986 5th Gear January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Most ah beng shop carry the micro sim cutter. you pay a nominal fee, they cut down the regular SIM to MicroSIM. Just get the MicroSIM tray just in case you need to slot the MicroSIM back into a regular SIM card phone.

Zxcvb Turbocharged January 3, 2012 Share January 3, 2012 Mircosim cutter can get at Mustafa or some special shops. If you travel frequently, just buy it cut yourself. Personally, while I'm overseas, I'll get spare iPhone 3GS to insert the prepaid card. From there, I can hotspot/tether the internet connection to my iPhone4/iPad/MacBook wherever or whenever I want. Wifi connection at cafes/hotels/restaurant overseas are kinda hassle. Need to ask password, cannot log in, dunno must register. Troublesome. With hotspot, a family of 4 can easily connect to 1 prepaid data sim card within close distance while travelling.

Just need to top up RM20 which can last you 1 mth. If you are going in every weekend and using alot of data, U28 will suffice. UMobile relatively new. But I had gotten this for a few mths. Known about this since last yr. Edited July 8, 2013 by Dj_spike
