Merging Lanes

 Share

Recommended Posts

I do not have the habit of going right into the centre of a merging lane for a simple reason. It look kind of kiasu.

But I do keep close to the front car so there is little chance for others to squeeze in.

That said, me no saint either.

I follow the arrows,

Only at centre after all the bend arrows.

Majority will zipper.

Met with those who tail gate I will not purposely squeeze in.

Only cannot stand those already forming up behind, then suddenly decided to accelerate and swerve in.

Then we have to brake abruptly.

My experience with squeezers usually fit this profile:

1) PA/PC plate commercial vehicles like Hiace.

2) PHVs

3) Women drivers

I dont mind women squeeze pass me if they are not in a car.

Especially if they have big bumpers.

Minor scapes also never mind.

Yes, this is how a merging lane should be used. Alternate forming up i.e. one at a time on each side of the lane.

Those who like to squeeze to the car in front, refuse to follow zipper formation, etc etc, shame on you.

In merging lanes it is best to follow a zipper formation for a smooth transition.

Some people just like to squeeze and this adds time and frustration to the journey, not to mention frayed tempers and potential accidents.

In addition, I will signal as well, in case driver behind is really a blur one.
